Never remove anything from your harddrive or Mr Firefox
will get screwed up. I removed about 76GB of movies and
photos from my site after burning them on DVDs. Now firefox
will crash every time I try to save a photo. After a defrag
and re-install of firefox, it's still funky. I can't even go
into the options menus because firefox is sensitive to
clicks. Back to Mozill 173 again I guess..I hate shit that
don't work properly.

1.0 and xp pro

Appreciate the Preparation H link, but didn't they test
firefox for like ages before 1.0 was released? Must be
something to do with the download part of the browser, which
is slow as fuck in the first place. Back when it worked 2
days ago, when I'd save a picture, my comp would freeze for
a few seconds when firefox saved and then kick back into
gear. Mozilla 1.7.3 does that too, but it doesn't freeze and
crash. What the fuck were they thinking with the download
section anyway? I don't need a small window appearing
telling me "ALL DOWNLOAD HAVE COMPLETED". Duh, really? About
time too, freezing fuckety fuck. AAAARGH!!

Maybe there is a corrupt file where firefox keeps your
profile.
Export your bookmarks somewhere SAFE then delete everything
in C:\Documents and Settings\Paco\Application
Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles.

Then restart firefox and it will recreate that directory
with a new profile in it.

CLOSE firefox, copy (I said copy. COPY!!!) your bookmarks
back to where there is a new smaller bookmarks.html file
(overwrite it), then you should be fine.

Also check tools > options > downloads to turn off the
download window.

Oh! And also type about:config in the address bar and hit
enter, then scroll down to
browser.download.manager.showAlertOnComplete and doubleclick
true to change it to false. Voila, no "downloads have
completed" bullshit in the notification area.

Thanks, fleetmouse. I'll try it.

I used to have quite a few problems when I tried out Firefox
so I stopped using it.

things like, logging out on xltronic and in NO way being
able to log in while using Firefox.

Nice tips Fleetmouse, that whole Download dialogue thing was
really interferring with my quest to collect EVERY Red Head
frosted freckles porn clip.

well everyone that i know has done every possible thing to
their computer on WINDOWS (i might add, b/c i assume you
guys are using crap ass windows) and they have never
encountered these odd problems. unless they have some really
nasty spyware/adware or a virus. or corrupt dll files or
something. just stop supporting windows for it's shit-ass
service and change to another o/s. simple as that. sorry for
being such an ass about this topic but i vehemently feel
that nobody should support such a piece of shit system if
they expect things to actually work. :)

Windows works for me, as I just use the computer to do work,
rather than spend all day hacking at the OS in order to
improve the framerates on some game or other.

generally I really don't have that much problems with
Windows, so I don't see why I should go to the trouble,
really.

well the assumption that it's either windows or *nix isn't
really fair - what about mac? or wait, are you guys too cool
for mac? :P

oh wait i see.. it's b/c you guys are playing games all day
and need to live off windows in order to feed your
waste-of-time hobbies ;)

JUST KIDDING...

Well I've moved many gbs of videos around on my computer and
reinstalled windows over the top of itself and then copied
my firefox preferences over from the documents and settings
and still had no problem with Firefox. The only time I've
had problems was from an extension which I then uninstalled
and firefox was fine afterwards.

I can't change it till I've found something I really like. I
don't like this avatar anymore. I could recycle an old one I
suppose....

What extension? Something with photo security certificate
bla bla? I deleted something like that before. Fleetmouse,
no luck :(

I'm just gonna go back to mozilla until I have the will
power to take on that shit again.

yeah man, it's your firefox profie. i has been corruped.

uninstalling and reinstalling the fox won't fix your
profile. that's a big problem with firefox that they need
to fix.

you gotta close firefox, delete the profile directory
completely, then restart the program. that almost always
fixes it.

I had problems with Firefox and the whole save-issue after i
removed some folders too....reason: my standard
download-folder in FireFox preferences was set to a folder
that didn't exist anymore...

Try changing it if it's set to one of the folders you
deleted
