Why dont you just ask the question instead of asking to ask
about it.

music making software with a design built off of old-school
amiga mod "tracker" music programs.. if you are new to the
style of software i wouldnt recommend it, but if you are
familliar with trackers from the old days than it it
fantastic. you can make it do anything.

Yeah, madtracker is a tracker like renoise but renoise is
x15 better. You should check it out if that's what you use,
you would be making tracks in no time.

I like the arrangement way of making series of instances.
CuBase etc is to formal and it makes you look at the
clock/Bar number rather than what's appropriate.

oh sure.. i was jsut saying, since i am stubborn and wont
switch software ever, because of the whole learning curve
thing, if you wanted to try out a different program, you
would pick-up on renoise quickly if you use madtracker

i see. but: what's the advantage of using renoise instead of
madtracker? the features seems to be pretty equal. btw, can
renoise read mt2-files?

i havent used madtracker, but i didnt think it had vsti
support, and renoise does. also, renoise uses very little
cpu so theres more for vst and shit

I've been getting into renoise of late. I dabbled with
trackers a few times now, but this is the first time I've
gotten loops/tracks good enough that I want to save. The
fact that it supports VST/midi is great. I like the control
over automation too. Perhaps most importantly is (as people
have said) the fact that the "score" is hidden from view,
rather than in your normal sequencer, makes you listen a lot
more, rather than do things by eye.

it can handle vst and it has rewire, so you can hook it up
to cubase or live or whetever as well.

My only criticism is that I can't see myself using it for
live play. I suppose that's common to all trackers. I can
imagine using it with Live, but then, I'd probably pe-render
stuff to wavs then sequence/fx them in live.
