Thanks to dog_belch, virginpusher and to some degree the
analords, I felt compelled to do a mix consisting of old
personal favourites from the era 92-96. Check it out.

Excellllleeent, I'm glad I didn't miss this. I'm so fucking
depressed today (don't ask about moving into a newly built
new house only to find three weks later the fucking living
room walls infested with termites and all the wall panels
have to be torn down, don't ask, becuase I am going to
fucking... kill myself..) so a bit of a classic mix of with
some of my favourite tunes, and a few that I don't recognise
but I am sure with vlari's impeccable taste I will love, is
just the ticket for an hours worth of soothing musical
genius before I go back into
kill-frenzy-denial-murderous-wanton-demolishing mode.

Just reading the titles makes me happy. Music 92 - 96,
before glitch, breakcore, drukqs... happy times.

Excellent. Thanks for giving me ear-time.

pfreshjch: I used Traktor only on the first two
tracks, cause I don't have 2 cd players with pitch control.
The rest is done with my trusty Technics, aided with cd only
on 04 and 12.

I will stick it on my pod :) cheers. I own all the tracks
except one on original release. I feel old.:( . ~Wheres the
acid. All pretty tech-tech no?.
Acid is the lastest new fangled jamie oliver malarkey no. It
is not like we have heard it before or anything in all
rehashed kind of style except a bit faster and harder no?
Jump on the bandwagon please. No on second thoughts I like
the rudimentary straight up and down techno ethic of years
gone by.

VLR gets my 2 thumbs up for his mixes EVERTIME...

d/ling now. Nice one.

I just noticed "bedouin ascent" in the tracklist and i only
ever heard one track of his on Rising Highs "further
self-evident truth 2" compilation and its a top-class tune.
Double nice one!

Thanks man.

Bedouin Ascent's great. I haven't heard much of him lately
though, he kinda vanished after remixing Tortoise and
Coldcut around '96 (which were top class, I might add).

That really is a great mix, fabulous, I realised I hadn't
listened to Speedy J or Merck by Black Dog / Balil for some
time, when they hit...then the Twin.... good grief... THAT
is music! I think young Vlari should definitely get a go at
hosting the XLT radio.

I'm glad you said that and not because, as sometimes I may
boldly claim, I think that 10 years ago music of this
electronica genre was fresher, more adventurous and
not stuck in a rut of being either breakcore or hopelessly
derivative, but because there are absolute musical
gems from that era that are in danger of getting lost
and forgotten and I think everyone that likes this broadly
termed genre called electronica/IDM, apart from some
blinkered purist, would enjoy them greatly.

It's good to see that this golden era of electronics is
being discussed and enjoyed by the board. It means alot to
me, considering that it is actually the soundtrack for me
from the tender age of 14 and upwards, and it has made alot
of impact on the way that I percieve music. This mix is a
retrospective of that exciting era and also of me.

Thanks again for checking it out and enjoying it.
