Well a reliable source (who we will henceforth refer to as
Heinz) told me two days before the latest Warpbot spam,
which did little to squash my hopes when it said the 10th
comes with a binder (first press sold out) and I am pretty
sure at the beginning of the Analord thing Rephlex said
there would be a second press done at the end of January,
beginning of Feb. So who knows? I certainly wouldn't pay
stupid money at the moment.

when grant was answering those questions i got the idea that
there will be more analords issued later on..

They would be stupid not to. At £40 a go they could easily
sell out another batch of 1000 and make themselves more
profit to drive forward their release of good music.

What makes you say that? Surely it is part of their
responsibility as a label to make sure they generate enough
money to actively promote all of the artists on the label?
If they don't then it is more than a little disappointing.

I reckon they planned ten and thought, well maybe another
couple if we feel like it. There'd better not end up more
than fifteen or my poor crippled fingers won't be able to
pick the binder up.

the reason it was priced highly it to stop cunts who bought
it just to sell it on, just like mike did with lego feet
when they re-released it last year. you pay for the folder
which is somewhere near its real value rather than its
actual cost to make.

offline dog_belch from Netherlands, The on 2005-02-06 10:09 [#01489325]

That may be true, but who does that, in the end, benefit?
Not really the fan who ends up paying over the odds but to
the label rather than eBay? Obviously the label benefits as
they're getting the money that would've gone to eBay. Had
the original Analord 10 gone for, say 10 pounds, then it's
fairly safe to say you could've sold it on eBay for about
30-40. It's interesting... the market's changing with mp3s
and eBay, but selling records at 4 times the price my not be
the ideal future.

i hate to sound like a scratched record but no-one is
forcing anyone to buy it. it's supposed to be a gift to
loyal vinylheads who are already used to paying 50-100% more
for a release anyway. and you can still buy all 10 records
without the binder.

pay, they just ask the next bidder down if they want to buy
it instead.

Following the logic of a label charging how much the record
will go for on eBay, then the second pressing of Analord 10
should cost over $200. So, those that bought the first
pressing at $80, did actually get a bargain.

If you're buying as an investment, it might be worth selling
now. There are a lot of people out there desperate for a
copy at the moment. Even if it's not re-released in
the same format (binder etc.) prices will probably fall,
once another version (albeit an inferiorly packaged one)
emerges. Look at Twoism by BoC - The original pressing has
better sound quality, bigger artwork, etc. yet prices for
originals dropped sharply when it go re-pressed.

Now, if the reissue has slightly different versions of the
tracks, or is CD only, the drop might be less severe, but I
reckon it'll still drop. Rephlex have already made noises to
the effect they'll reissue it in another format at a later
date.

This record has the second funniest sleeve in rephlex
history. On the back it has a flap, like those on picture
frames, allowing it to stand on your coffeetable, nightstand
or shelf.

First price goes to the Sam & Valley LP though. That cover
doubles as a puzzle. It's a shame that the music is crap...

US $400.00 for Analord! Fuck me. I don't think Rephlex's
ploy of deterring the collector bastard has worked really.

And just a pound for "Cradle of History", IS THERE NO
