What do you think the creatures from outer space look like?

well prob not like in the movies
what are the chances that they'd also just happen to evolve
w/ 2 arms/legs... heads w/ 2 eyes, 2 nostrils, a mouth..
etc...

aliens in our culture just look like fucked up humans

offline Laserbeak from Netherlands, The on 2002-02-07 22:03 [#00082757]

I think that when they're from a fluid planet they'd be a
ball with tentacles on it, catching prey and floating
around...

there are so many worlds in this galaxy that the chances are
there is a planet where they speak english too. honest.

offline AMinal from Toronto (Canada) on 2002-02-07 22:10 [#00082763]

i highly doubt that...
what are the chances that they would even develop the sound
making capabilities that let u speak english?
even our closest relatives chimps cant.

and even if they made the same type of sounds we do.. the
chances that the english language would evolve though SO
many complex little incidents is... well, not much

they prob would have languages we cant even imagine

offline Netlon Sentinel from eDe (Netherlands, The) on 2002-02-07 22:19 [#00082777]

the thing is , there is an infinite number of planets. so
there ought to be at least one other planet where they would
speak english. actually, it's an infinite amount of
planetswhere they speak english. but i'm taking parallell
universums in account as well :)

offline AMinal from Toronto (Canada) on 2002-02-07 22:26 [#00082780]

yes..
but there could just as easily be infinite humber of worlds
and each of them be different

offline Laserbeak from Netherlands, The on 2002-02-07 22:27 [#00082782]

I think aliens speak in pulses which are suitable for their
environment. Maybe radiosignals... I wan't to see at least
one of them during my lifetime.

There aren't an infinite number of planets! That's an
incorrect assumption!

If you hold with the theory of evolution and belive that it
has occured in a simalar fashion on other planets as it has
on ours, aliens will all look like the come to daddy
monster.

even in parallel dimensions/universes
the laws of those universes would be quite different
matter/energy might not (prob wouldn't) behave the same
way.. planets probably wouldn't even exist

offline Netlon Sentinel from eDe (Netherlands, The) on 2002-02-07 22:35 [#00082795]
Points: 4736 Status: Lurker

in an infinite number of galaxies you're right planets
probably won't exeist. but in an infinte number of planets
planets will exist. or have different physical laws or
whatever.

we could discuss this endlessly

infinity is quite a large quantity, you know.

My calculations show that aliens will look exactly like
this:

Human shape, big black eyes, grey skin, small noses, big
heads, no external genitalia.

Life had to come down here from somewhere, maybe an
asteroid, so I guess we're all sort of alien...

i wonder how the whole short, white body / big black
insect-like eyes phenomenon came about. was it fictionalized
by us? where did we get it from?

offline Ubik from United States on 2002-02-10 17:34 [#00084579]

the small skinny hairless white body with big head and big
eyes idea came from (i think) from early 20th century ideas
of what a more evolved race would look like, and aliens were
always perceived as a more "evolved" race.... i.e. the old
thinking... the (rather quite flawed and racist) steps of
evolution, first you have the big, black, hairy, stupid,
strong ape. second, you have the african man, black,
strong, not as big and hairy as a gorilla. third you have
white men, smaller and weaker but "smarter", lot less hair
in their sophistication. then the "logical" idea for a more
evolved human would be very white, small and weak with a big
brain, because the brain is what is important, all work will
be done by machinery, and of course, mostly hairless. the
eyes, well, i guess people think big eyes look intelligent
and cute. animals with small eyes are usually considered
mean and stupid.
i'm not saying i agree with this, i think humans will all be
brown and we are more concerned with muscles and body curves
than any civilization in history. and evolution of humans,
any way you look at it, is hardly "advancing".

also, there have been stories of mysterious people from the
sky, who often abduct, for thousands of years. they have
been called extraterrestial aliens, demons, fairies,
witches, gods and goddesses, etc. is this proof that people
have been making up the same stupid shit for thousands of
years, or that there is some truth behind the stories? i
don't think so, but who knows i guess.

seems aliens' looks, are largely influenced by whatever
Hollywood speculates at the time?!

re: the evolving thing
Aren't the blockbuster looks derived from foetus' looks.
Which could coincide with the conspiracy-ish theories that
parallel human life is on the moon, mars, or the veda[?]
star system?!

I think an alien species is the missing link in human
evolution..... there were monkeys, then suddenly they were
walking upright, making plastic and nuclear waste.... all in
like the blink of the evolutionary eye. what the fuck? why
do we make all this shit that doesn't naturally exist? why
do we have to change nature to suit us, if we're all
natural? I don't think we are. I think we are a hybrid of
monkeys and aliens, experimental-style.

i would say this is nonsense, we could never imagine aliens
because we can just think about things we know and we're
common with. we can't describe something that we don't
know...i think it doesn't matter.

yeah. were too stupid. its all very well looking for alien
creatures in outer space, but we are all living on a state
of the art planet and we are state of the art space beings.

Haha I just saw "Enemy Mine" yesterday on Space channel. The
narrator said the alien (Drac) is not humanoid, but an ugly
lizard. Hehe it was not true.
The alien was pretty humanoid with lizard skin, one big
tooth, 3 fingers. Ehh. Not much fantasy, but the story is
very nice. OK, it was made in 1985.
Still sucked compared to Star wars which was made in 1979.
