too keep this thread going on unnecessarily... i have,
yes... it's pretty good, but most of it is straight from
albums so it's nothing super super exciting... definitely
very good for anyone who is interested in the label, cause
it's all there... and it's insanely cheap for a double
cd...

but you know, i wish they would actually set out to do an
original compilation with exclusive tracks... sort of like
something Touch might do, where they have some sort of
concept and they get their whole stable to submit something
somehow related... actually, it would really be cool to see
a Touch vs. Kranky compilation... Loscil vs. Oren Ambarchi,
Brent Gutzeit vs. Chris Watson... i think that would be
pretty bad-ass...

I hadn't heard the majority of the artists on it so its all
good for me. Over Christmas I kept playing 'Joy Shapes' over
and over... there's something a bit hypnotic about that
one.

Good to hear the new Stars of the Lid track though! I'm
looking forward to their next one big time.

"I hadn't heard the majority of the artists on it so its all

good for me."

for sure. i hope i don't sound really snobby when i talk
about how it's all from the albums anyhow... as i have said
once already today: infinite access (ie: slsk) has crippled
me...

yeah... i'm glad that they threw out some teasers for
forthcoming albums... it's looking like it's shaping up for
another stellar year from these guys

Nah you don't sound snobby... just overly
kranky-knowledgable...

You got a favourite you could recommend me? I've got SOTL
and Dead Texan, and old Low / Godspeed etc... I want to get
more into this label.

well Loscil is definitely really solid... it's just
beautiful ambient techno... it confuses me why he doesn't
come up more here, because i think his stuff would appeal to
a lot of people here...

i really like Brent Gutzeit... his stuff is more dark and
droney, but if you dig that, he's your man...

and also Windy and Carl is really classic pretty drone
stuff... it kind of bridges the gap between My Bloody
Valentine and people like Fennesz... yeah, Windy and Carl
has been doin' this stuff for years... you should give it a
listen (the album Depths is quite lovely... but i haven't
heard a lot of their albums so if you find another that is
nice, please let me know!)

but really it's all good... if yer on slsk, i'm sharing
some... not a tonne... i'm Phaetonn, i'd be happy to add ya
to my list... :)

HAHA... yeah, you know, i'm not sure if he'd really be too
cool on collaborating with anyone these days... he was
slagging people who combined fieldrecordings with synths in
the Wire a few months back... he's become a bit of a
crochety old bastard (sort of like Andrew McKenzie from
Hafler) as of late... but given that Gutzeit often works in
a similar vein i think they would work really well
together... it'd be sweet so have Gutzeit set up in some
crazy natural depression (like a nice resonating cave or
something), and shoot drones out, which Watson could pick up
with his wicked recording skills...

but yeah Watson's definitely not for everyone... i still
think Vatnajokull is one of the most gorgeous ambient tracks
i've heard come out of this decade so far, though... but i'm
a weirdo...

I've done plain leaves before but that was too weak. Got
short intense stoned/drunk sensation which was interesting
but not what salvia's about :)

I just mean I've been down recently and I don't wanna do
anything intense while depressed, ya know... wanna wait till
I'm feeling more positive about stuff generally.

Lol shit... upon reflection it seems even odder...

I was sitting next to my open window and I remember
exhaling. Next it was so fucked I cant express it in words
:/ It involved me detatching completely from
reality/myself... I seriously can't begin to put it into
words, it was kind of like a dreamstate but with no
relationship to earth-things. Mannnnn

It sounds sort of like hyperventilating and then holding
your breath and standing up and sitting down or whatever.

Nah, I dunno, it reminds me of something we used to do when
we were kids and couldn't afford glue. I forget the magic
formula - it's something like crouch down, hyperventilate,
then hold your breath and stand up and someone grabs you
from behind and picks you up and squeezes you and it forces
gas bubbles into your bloodstream that kill you instantly.

Anyhoo it's quite a headrush and a great way to get rid of
those pesky excess neurons.

hahaha

we used to just hyperventilate and slap ourselves really
really hard in the chest afterwards... i can't remember if
anything actually happened to anyone due to it... i always
just assumed i was doing it wrong, but i have no idea if it
could actually do anything at all... now that i think about
it...

Lol I don't wanna sound like I was looking to get fucked. I
was hoping for an introspective experience but misjudged the
intensity I think...

I've been thinking about it. I had the most intense feeling
that I could not communicate. I was talking to myself in my
head, using all these words, then realising moments later
that they were not real words at all. It wasnt very
pleasant, kind of a panic that I'd lost the ability to
communicate. A total loss of reality. I wish I could
remember more clearly but I recall the word 'fraggled' being
said (not by me) to describe something and it making perfect
sense to me. As I came out of the intense part I started
worrying that my brother would come in my room and I
wouldn't be able to construct a sentance consisting of real
words.

Bloody 'ell. Quite an interesting one :)

fast... what exactly was it though?

i smoked salvia about a month ago. it wasnt fun at all. i
just blacked out for the majority of the trip, then got real
scared when suddenly i was back in reality with no memory of
anything before. the thought constantly went through my head
"this isnt right. something went wrong. maybe im stuck like
this forever." it wasnt fun at all, my least favorite drug
experience ever.
