did you like spokes?

Not Plaid's best really. this album dissapointed me
deeply. And my interest in Plaid faded away very rapidly.

I haven't listened to it in a while but I enjoy it

Zeal is about the only track there i can really listen to.

i have heard by many that it's exellent, i listened to it a
couple of times when it came out but of some reason i didnt
have the time to get into it.. and i didnt feel very
impressed (with melodies and beats, sounds was nice if i
remember corectly)

i hope that the album is simply more of an chalenge to get
into then their other easy listened stuff and that i just
have not gotten into it yet.

hopefully

oh and thanks for reminding me that this album exist, i kind
of forgot.. now i know what to listen to the next few days

Plaid in general is too safe for my tastes. They color
inside the lines.

Two Plaid songs I really like though are Zeal (from Spokes)
and Itsu , which are catchy as fuck.

It is my farvorutvite Plaid Album.

Marry is really great.

actually, i like it except for the first track... the vocal
sounds are annoying to me. it still hasn't grown on me at
all. so i think it's great except for that.

offline brokephones from Londontario on 2005-01-27 11:56 [#01477616]

One thing that I forgot to mention is that they use alot of
high-frequency sounds on this album which can be jarring to
the ear.

offline Chihiro from twins land on 2005-01-27 11:57 [#01477621]

There are like 2 cooL tracks on it. But the album as a
whole isn't "that". . .

i like how different it is than their other stuff, yet it is
still Plaid!

It's the only Plaid album i like. Sorry, everyone. They just
disappoint after Black Dog, for me. But Spokes, hey, I say
"this is more like it, more of this please".

It's OK. Far from their best but not their worst either. If
it comes on my iPod I'm happy but if I didn't have it on
there then I don't think I'd hear it much as it's not a CD I
reach for.

i didn't know what to think at first but i soon began to
like it. there are 2 or 3 songs on there that i think that
suck though, but the rest is pretty good.

i think spokes is one of their best records, i was a huge
fan of their previous stuff and spokes was miles away from
what i expected but still had (to me) the same level of
quality. that means i was fucking happily surprised!

It's more advanced then their other albums imo.

Wicked harmonies and melodies....I could swear Plaid are
classically trained; or they just have an amazing ear for
these things.

yes i really liked it, but not as much as i liked double
figure here is mrgypsums personal rundown of plaids longer
ones:

1. double figure
2. spokes
3. parts in the post
4. rest proof clockwork
5. not for 3s
6. trainer

i always thought this album was so lush. I think it topped
Double Figure easily.

for me double figure just had more to offer + plus i think
it is plaid best sounding release, spokes is their darkest +
at times sounds a little stale, a la some parts of cedar
city.

i think the fact that it was darker than anything
perviously...thats what won me over.

Double figure = GOOD

Spokes = GOODER

I think it's phat and sick!

I hated it at first, but after some determination and about
5 listens, I really love it. Track 3 makes my mind melt
like goo.

i can totally see why you like it better, but i was
introduced to played through df, and i love that album, it
reminds me of college and the trials and tribulations of
student life - spokes reminds me of a darker more refined
(subtract all of those one minute tracks) version of df.

a fav track off of the top of my head:

1. double figure \ new family
2. spokes \ get what you gave
3. parts in the post \ juicyjazz girls
4. rest proof clockwork \ last remembered thing
5. not for 3s \ milh
6. trainer \ angry dolphin
