I really have to wonder why it is that people go into
"Opinion" based threads, and then shred people for their
opinions.

It doesn't make any sense to me at all. All it does is
generate hostility.

This has got to be the reason that the world is still a
shagged mess.

some opinions are more destructive than others. your opinion
here is harmless but it will probably fuel discussion,
probably to no end

I think, on a broader scale, at root is the problem of
communication. There's the adage that the more we
communicate the better we all understand each other. No, No,
NOOOOO! The more we communicate the more we realise how much
we hate each other, and the more way we can cite, nay
directly quote reasons as well as harbouring vague
preconceptions. Stop the Internet before there's another
9-11.

Hahahha. I could see that point.

I guess (Before this thread supernovas_ the point I was
getting at is this. There are all kinds of threads like -
The new (insert album name here) - Your thoughts? Or ones
like, (insert political topic here) - What do you think?

Then people happily submit there opinions on said topic,
where all of the sudden some people decide that "your
personal opinion is shit (or something to that effect)" and
begin shredding that person over submitting their thoughts
to a post that asked for that very thing.

I guess this has just started to bother me and has me
wondering what the point in doing so is?

... Your thoughts? :-P

message boards give people the opportunity to give off an
aura of arrogance, supreme confidence and and general self
assurance; thus developing the personality they've always
dreamt of having, but are a million miles from having in
real life. 'Keyboard Warriors' is the term they tell me.

The reason why this message board is so good is because
people do vent their oppinions.

Keep up the good work

sorry, there was supposed to be an icon of a smiley face
elbowing you in the ribs with that comment...

I think the worst is when you pit rabid PS2/Xbox/Gamecube/PC
fanboys against each other in online debates. I come here
because it's so laid back (other than the odd religious
and/or WATMM fisticuffs).

"elbow in the ribs" is an idiom meaning "joking with you."

in this reply, however, there is a smiley face poking you in
the eye with a flaming kebob...
