how do you get out of the situation in the prison where you get three automatic gun turrets and soldiers basically start flooding in for ages? i just cannot seem to get past this part.
is there a trick?

block one of the entrances with boxes so they can't come through there. Also set your turrets in corners so they can't knock them over. That's how I did it.

I did it by setting up the turrets in front of me and behind me in the open plan room where the turret cupboards are. Crouch and shoot. Don't put the turrets too close to the hallway otherwise they will get knocked down.

I put the turrets right in front of 3 of the entrances and cosntantly ran between them, killing a few of the soldiers each time and putting the turrets back up if necessary. Obviously this will leave one of the entrances open so you have to cover that one more than the other 3.

no im actually brilliant. but they made an exclusive, specially-difficult edition just for me. horsefactory i tried your technique too, but the fuckers keep coming. i like the ginger one's suggestion to block entrances with boxes, although i suspect the fuckers will still find a way to circumvent this tick using their ingenious fuckerness.

I set the turrets up somewhere, but the knocked them down at the begining. I went in to booth in one of the rooms and just blasted those motherfuckers with my guns.

This part is prolly the hardest part in the game.
What I find works best is to rush to keep the turrets up using the gravity gun (listen to Alyx!). Also, when the manhacks come after you, grab them with the gravity gun and smash them against the wall or floor.
As for the Overwatch, just keep blasting away at 'em. Use the shotgun, magnum, MP7, or pulse rifle. MP7's probably the best weapon to use, since there's an ammo crate for it in the second small corridor. Don't hesitate to use MP7 grenades and pulse rifle energy orbs as well.
Main thing is, keep your gravity gun handy for manhacks, and KEEP THE TURRETS UP AT ALL TIMES. That way your chances of success would increase.
Gawdz I'm such a nerd. =p

yeah actually i think i did it gigingers way of blocking the entrances.
It took me a lot of tries to beat that part. I even brought all 3 turrets into one of those small cells and placed them in what I thought would be an invincible position, but I got owned by grenades and whatnot.

you don't need to use the gravity gun for putting the turrets back up. you can also pick them up just by using the "use" button. it's easier that way i think.

putting turrets in the corners really helps them to make at least 4 or 5 kills before being knocked over

the way I got through this part was setting up the turrets as close to the center of that room as possible looking out each way. they managed to pick guys off as they were running up the stairs, and from that distance the combine couldn't hit the turrets very well. Regardless, they made it to the room pretty quickly and I just hid in the "locker" type walls and would just double shotgun (or even single works if its a well placed shot) every time they would round the corner. There was literally a pile of dead combine in front of me when they finally stopped attacking. I guess it requires being a fast shot with the shotgun, but it worked for me.

Did anyone else have the problem in the first two turret battle where the turrets only shot at YOU? I survived the first part all alone, but cheated in the second part. It was the only way. (cuz I ain't THAT 1337 yet) Oddly enough, they worked just fine in the third...
