Concerning the price of Analord...

So now that we have the release, i'd just like to mention a
few points regarding the £39.99 pricetag.

Firstly, postage to the UK came to just under £5.
Considering this is part of the total price, and that
shipping to countries outside the UK will be MUCH more, this
brings the price of the release down to £35. I haven't even
mentioned the packaging either....

Next, there is the vinyl itself. We all know its
180g/audiophile, and was obviously pressed by people who
knew what the hell they were doing. Consider that much lower
quality vinyl regularly sells on places such as
warpmart/boomkat for about £7.99....

Then there is the binder. To be honest, it surpassed my
expectations, and is really rather sexy. It is strong too,
and leaves plenty of free space available inside so that
once it is complete, the records won't be too cramped. The
logo engraving looks the part, and although I have a bit of
a reservation regarding the analord typography (I personally
would have avoided any type on the front whatsoever, and
just kept the logo in the middle), it is truly a fine job.

The sleeves inside also have the aphex twin logo embossed
onto them.

I am not too familiar on binder costs when it comes to
producing custom jobs such as this, but it certainly doesn't
look cheap....

Then there is the time/effort it took to take in the orders,
arrange shipping, deal with our maonings etc... I don't envy
rephlex in this regard, but its obvious it was a pretty
frustrating, painstaking and time consuming process.

I think most people were put off at the initial price of
analord 10 (myself included), but when you consider
everything I mentioned, and the fact that the music itself
is really rather good, I think its worth it. It'd be
interesting to see exactly how much profit (if any) rephlex
get from analord 10. But for the people who bought it, do
you think the price justified the end product?

unreasonable as a lot of people think.

lets think of it this way. i bought the druqks cd for £15
and it had 30 tracks on it. analord is £40 and has 2 tracks
on it. and druqks was a little disappointing.

really ?

well, the price doesnt fit according ty my calculations, but
maybe all of these things youve said were produced by
fiunest craftsmans of the world, yeah, that would explain
its several costs.

40 pounds - that a daily payment for some ppl in britain,
well, or one 12" with two tracks on it.

fuck off twat, youve done yourself pretty god today, stupid
blind afx lover that isnt even able to say that his latest
work is outdated, wanky-pranky ans cheesy ( just like
arpegiator in fl 2.0 ).probably the tracks is from that
period, but you will never admit anything bad about aphex,
too stupid for this, see ya.

god, could you please stop moaning about the price.
you didn't order one, so you did not waste your precious
money. so take your money and go wank on it.
damn, money is replacable. who cares about 40 pounds. if
Analord sucks you can sell it again. no big deal.

a guy wins £100 on a scratch card. as he walks home a man
runs towards him and knees him in the nuts, then runs away
again. the guy stand up and says 'its fair', and keeps
walking home.

It definately sucks for you peepz over the atlantic, what
with the current state of your currency. I tend to buy quite
a few things from the US now to take advantage of the almost
1:2 pound/dollar conversion. But this is hardly rephlex's
fault, and you can't really fault them for selling at a
price which is reasonable for people in the UK (and their
base of operation heh)

Would you guys think $40 is a reasonable cost for it?

congratulations, it only took you 338 words to come up with
a justification why 40 quid isn't too much for 2 tracks and
a binder.

Well, I think its a little more thoughtful than people who
seem to conclude that its a rip-off in only a sentence
before evening thinking about the cost/process involved.

I dislike xm5a. It had great potential but went nowhere, and
the main melody was simplistic and annoying.

Felix Funk is great.

Overall, I think the price is absolutely fucking ridiculous.
Sure, they're nice enough tracks-but they're not outstanding
or perfect (mind you, no music is really perfect but anyhoo)
and they don't warrant that price imho!

i don't care what anyone else buys or doesn't buy. a price
for a 12" isn't fair or unfair. you can sell 100 copies for
$10, or 10 copies for $100. but i also don't care at all
about any binders or anything collectible or cool or
whatever at all, i just care about the music. and $80 is
too much for any 12", for me personally...

if you're happy with your purchase, that's all that
matters...

The music is average apart from Analord 2 & 10 (the picture
disk version of Analord 10 will do). However, I have the
full thing. I will buy a second copy of the afformentioned 2
records, then put the thing in storage and sell it on ebay
in 10 years time, making a bloody killing in the process.
