Yeah, you know what? I think they only put feta in the
vegetarian ones, at least in Montreal.

Greek salad with feta, and lots of olives and hot peppers,
now that's the shit.

It is the food of yesterday's future, today. Thousands of
years from now, mankind will look back and whisper in hushed
tones: souvlaki.

You have to eat them nude. Preferably with a girl so you can
clean each other up afterwards. :-P

man and how do they treat the meat in souvlaki? It's fucking
insane.

I didn't know feta only goes in the veggi ones, but agreed,
I think it's my favorite thing for salads.

BTW do you like blue cheese? I had feta for the first time
with salad recently and it reminded me of the former. good
shit.

that's weird. they're very different.

yeah I know; the similarity arose from the both having a
sharp bite of sorts (I've never noticed that before; I've
only had feta one other time and this time maybe some other
salad shit fuckkeeedl me). I'm starting to feel stupider by
the letter.

I seriously, seriously fucking love veggie greek
food. There was a greek-owned tiny little place over in
switzerland that made some of the best (and cheapest,
actually) food i've ever had in my life.

I looooove blue cheese. Come down with me in the dark,
handsome, and let's eat some.

Have to agree ith qrter though that it has nothing in common
with feta - okay, they are both strong and stanky, I guess.

deepspace9mm - I also love vegetarian food but souvlaki? I
wants the meatstick. I'm surprised to hear of a cheap
restaurant in Switzerland. I thought you had to take a
mortgage to go out to dinner there.

colours.

Yes. I was downtown visiting a client and put the souvlaki
in their refrigerator. Then at lunchtime I went out with the
souvlaki and ate the souvlaki in the street. The sun was
shining and the souvlaki tasted good. The sauce had
congealed into something like ricotta cheese if ricotta
cheese were 50% garlic. Then I went back to work on the
client's computer network and burped garlic burps all
afternoon. Ha ha ha!

times.

MMmMmmMm I love Greek food! Near my home town, there is a
town called Tarpon Springs which is famous for it's Greek
restaurants and gift shops, and also the Sponge Docks, which
by tradition was often the home of many a Greek spongediver.
I love going there to get Gyros (basically the exact same
thing as a souvlaki) and greek salad and pastitsio (sp)...
god damn I'm hungry for that shit now. :D

and what the hell is the deal with mystery meat??? if it's
not lamb, pork, beef, or chicken as those are already
identified as possible ingredients, what the hell should I
expect the mysterty meat to be? horse? dog?

It's poreef, from crossbreeding hogs and beefs. Mmmmm.

Tarpon Springs sounds beautiful - I guess being on the west
coast of fla. you don't get hit with the hurricanes too bad?

yeah, we generally luck out as far as hurricanes are
concerned as they tend to either go up the Gulf and hit
Texas or Louisiana and the like, or they go up the west
coast. We do get nailed from time to time though, and 2004
was a prime example (got hit twice).

Tarpon Springs can be a bit on the dirty side, but that just
kind of adds to the atmosphere, and the food is clean. :D
The coolest part is walking along the strip that is like
shops on one side of the street and docks on the other for
all the Sponge boats.

there, and also Louisiana - nawlins and all that.

what kind of meat do they use for souvlaki's or gyros? just
curious. i can eat them minus onions, or else you don't want

you can have them made a number of ways, including beef,
lamb, pork, and also chicken in certain areas. then, as
fleetmouse pointed out, there is the mystery meat of poreef,
which I guess is a possible candidate as well.
