i still think it's too much we have people starving in our own nation. this financial burden shouldn't solely be placed upon uncle sam's lap. if every corporation around the world donated some hefty amount it would ease everyone's duty reasonably.

if you're taking crack cocaine for breakfast then yeah i think you dont deserve any welfare whatsoever. (read the fine print). the gov't has like zues so eloquently pointed out has other priorities like military and most importantly education. how much has france donated? only 20 million it's not fair. corporations combined make billions more than any gov't - thats a given. giving their money aid along with the gov't is only fair.

350mil is peanuts to the USA. We spend that in just over 24 hours in Iraq. The US has the highest GNP of any other nation.. by far, but we, on average give less than any other industrialized nation for humanitarian aid.
We really have an obligation to give the most money.

[serious question]
do you have any statistics from credible sources to back this up?
because i've heard the opposite. there was a guy on pbs the other night talking about how since WWII america has consistently given upwards of 60% of all humanitarian (disaster & development) aid worldwide.
but, i've been able to find statistics that either support or disprove that point.

you know, its called relativity. economically, 350m is nothing to the states, and for all I know (I dont know Frances budget, so I cant say for certain) 20m could be a fuckload for france.
but what I do know, is that, per capita, the US donates the LEAST out of all the countries, for aid.

still though, i know the UN and UNICEF and the red cross and whatnot have to have stats about this. where the shit are they? cause they're not easy to find.
i'd really like to take a look at the raw numbers. i'm not sure i trust either Tucker Carlson or Randal McLefty to explain them to me.

and, even then, i'm really skeptical as to whether or not raw numbers are gonna tell the whole story...
i mean, where does the money go? how effectively is it used? how much of it is donated by the government and ends up going directly to the big corporations that are run by those same gov't officials.
honestly, i'm not convinced that giving these people 74 brzillion dollars will absolutely ensure the best outcome... i mean, if 75% of that money is funneled into 4 or 5 corrupt assbag's pockets then it's all a bit of a waste isn't it?
i think these our country donated more than yours arguments are petty and miss the point pretty badly.
