This pal of myn is into a long distance relationship, and he says that it's the first time he's really in love. He sees his girl "5 days once a month/two". And "it seems" to work ok for him.
What do you think about this kind of relationship? Can it work? Can it last?

relationships are quite personal. it shits me how people can make opinions on a couple and whether things will "work" based on very little knowledge.
it might work. it might not. up to them. a lot of them suck and cause both parties pain, though; the temptation to cheat, et al. personally though, if you're in a relationship and you're tempted to cheat, my opinion is that you shouldn't be in it.

Due to separate university living, my girlfriend is 200 miles away. I get to see her every 2/3 weeks, and it's hell.
It's worth it though, 'cause I love her to pieces. You appreciate the time you have together more too, so this Christmas is going to be great.

most people are quite similar. the genpool of mankind has very little variation. less than most other species.
so generalizing statements are justified.

it depends on the people
They can work out but both people involved need alot of patients, will power and love.
It's very easy to stray though

you should try to live together - i know it's not easy. but obviously it's hard to REALLY know each other living separately,. i experienced that for about a year, it's shit.
"You appreciate the time you have together more" - true, but living together everyday you know about each other a lot more

"Can it work?" for a while Can it last?" no
this is from personal experience but I guess it depends, its hard being away from someone you love for a long period of time, it can be painful and for me it contributed to us splitting up.

been dating my girl long distnace for about a year now . . . . she just moved in with me temporarily for about six weeks, it was great, we got to know each other in that everyday mundane way. we couldnt wait to do stupid shit like grocery shop together . . . or be in the same room but not paying attention to the other. like i'd be making tunes and she'd be watching a movie. she moved back a few weeks ago because of school, and we're back to long distnace. it's not any easier, but we both want it to work, so i reckon it will. i also reckon i might propose to her pretty soon one of these days. make a baby or some crazy shit like that in a few years.
the only other experience i had with long distance failed miserably. because i didnt care one way or the other if it worked or not. it was just better than being single.

I am in a long distance relationship. It sucks because we want to stay and do things together. We are very far away,he´s scottish and I am brazillian, then,it isn´t very easy as ppls thinks.
Maybe I´ll visit him next year,perhaps...
