I'm in england

I've been in england since saturday. So far i've had a ball
of a time, getting completely smashed about every night
since i've been here now i'm pretty much ready to pass out
for the next few days. My friend here is a photographer,
he's been taking me to all these indie gigs. First off, was
this indie party called 'the frog', the music is okay but i
must say i really enjoy the young indie punk girlies walking
around the place. I also saw this band called the baby
shambles, the lead singer is this spaced out guy called pete
doherty whos apparently some big drug addict and everyone
follows him around like he is the messiah. His music isn't
much to be desired for.

Anyway...

I want you uk people to recommend me some shows. I already
know about the christmas warp rave but don't know any of the
artists playing, are they any good? I'm looking for some
good electro, please help me out.

there's this cool place called "The fraction" which is on
the north end of a street on the western corner of central
park, just north of rio grande, where they're having
hanukka-parties all year round, but make sure you don't go
south by the suez-canal, 'cause then you'll be in the
redlight-district, which is almost in the middle of the
red-sea, where the pirates roam...

i was sitting on the tube today and the guy across from me
was chewing gum. everytime he made a chew he opened his
mouth so wide it looked like he was trying to bite off a big
apple. this made me wonder why americans sound the way they
do.

no, not really. the only electro that site really had to
offer was "house/electro" but thanks for the link anyway.
i've been to a few decent places i'm just specifically
looking for a good electro party to go to... definitly going
to that warp rave.

anyone in the london area know of anything worthwhile?

i went to 'the frog' again tonight. ash played. yippee. i
got pushed around in the crowd for a while until i decided
that they sucked and left. i was sitting in the band room
just as they finished, the timothy guy came in so i decided
to leave, as i left i said "have a good night" and he patted
me on the back returning the centiment. good guy i guess.
enough of this indie shit someone please help me. to be
fair though they did play(dj) a few old rock classics which
was good.

but if i booked flight now it wouldn't cost me anything but
taxes. HMMMM. cheap hostels in london?

offline FlyAgaric from the discovery (Africa) on 2004-12-12 12:24 [#01423206]

hostels are actually quite expensive, not really sure what
they charge seeing as i haven't stayed in one over 2 years.
i know of this great little hotel though that charge £15 a
night, it's rather crummy, right next to the tube station,
cheap breakfast (scrambled eggs on toast wit small orange
juice) but quite a classic place to stay, they have this
really cool backyard, if you climb out your window (on the
ground floor) you can sit under the tree in the long grass
while enjoying some herbal pleasures.

on a slightly related note i was quite surprised to find
that fresh magic mushrooms are now legal in the uk. they are
sold everywhere around camden. pretty cool!

nights.

Sooo the warp gig is tonight....and i'm not fucking going!
it is okay, i have had the whole week to come to terms with
it. it seems no one wants to go to a bloody warp rave,
instead i will be going to a place called fabric (which i've
been to before and found it to be overly packed and a venue
for the worst kind of drum n bass) to hear some clown called
mylo. i listened to mylo's album and found it mildly
enjoyable, the funky house thing should be good when i have
a few whiskeys in me later tonight. WARP damnit!

Besides this minor setback things are going well. my routine
of drinking has not changed much. i met this cute croation
girl called Andreja last night. Andreja is 25, a gemini and
has no interest in music because she finds it to be a
fashion statement. Interesting. I'm hoping she comes to the
new years party, wish me luck.

so we were standing in the line for about 2 hours, 2 of our
'crew' had already decided to leave ("i couldn't be arsed").
half an hour later we give up, get in a taxi and go to the
warp rave. yes! it was a good rave, i drank copias amounts
of whiskeys and danced away to miss kittin who played a
really varied set. the whole warehouse effort was really
dark, the atmosphere wasn't the best, the closer you were to
the speakers the better it was.

now i have to find a way to get to the new years rave. i
must see the almighty pusher.
