Well, don't think the HDD is going to be recovered,
regardless.

So, the FTP data, everything everyone uploaded, is now
gone.

what I'm asking is someone with a large properly organized
data collection to setup an FTP for me so I can rebuild mine
and start a ftp or sharing again.

I'm looking to get about 3-4 days of dedicated bandwidth to
me via FTP sometime prolly next week.

Please let me know,
thanks,

i lost a harddrive last week too. :( only had about 15GB of
music, but still, that's kinda a bitch.

on the bright side, it gave me an excuse to get a 76GB
raptor. yay!

i don't think raptors get any bigger than 76.

i could be wrong.

they're basically really fast SATA harddrives.

and, i'll be using my regular maxtor 120GB harddrive on my
other machine to store files on, so storage space won't be
too lacking.

:)

i would expect you would use the 10k raptor for
programs/OS/games and things for storage, go with more hdd
space over speed, as you won't really be accessing them
much.

back on topic, who wants me?

I have a 160 that gets backed up weekly onto another 160 in
a USB case. I use Syncback so only new or changed
files get added and I don't need to tear my hair out
remembering what's new or doing a full backup every time. I
could probably write a quick Python script to do the same
thing but eh.

when i get my linux machine back up and restocked, AND
assuming i can figure out how to get a dynamic ip to work
with my faggy dsl modem, I'll hook you up.

but, my upload speed is shity, and i probably don't have a
whole lot of what you want.

i don't have buttloads of idm.

Of all people, I thought you would find a resource to
recover yer HDD. At least try Steve Gibson's Spin Rite @
grc.com. If you can't get it that way (Trust me, the
software is the ultimate), it's gonna have to go to a
recovery specialist, and I've heard they're not cheap.
I probably have 85 to 90% of what you had on the /pub. I
don't have the bandwidth to serve a pub (128K upstream) but
I'd be glad to burn everything off for you and send it snail
mail.
Mebbe you could send me one of dem killa kind budz you got
in exchange ;)
I hear packing them inside of peanut butter jars works w/
mail (With PB inside to cover smell, of course). And duct
taped lid.
Just don't send it priority mail :D
Let me know, foo.

x0hx, dood, you know how much data recovery is? erm, no.
and not payin money to recover mp3s (ironic?).

plenty of recovery software, most of which was crashing so I
gave the HDD to my mate whose PC the software works on, and
it wont even post in bios now :(

before i just lost my boot records and the psu on it would
recycle power every couple seconds, now it won't even post
in bios and just churns :( :( :(

I don't know *exactly* how much it costs.
Steve Gibson's software would have worked.
Quit acting like a lamer.
Something is fucked bad with your system. IMHO, a bad
virus??
(Crashing software, BIOS probs).
No wait. Stupid me, stupid you.
Your processor was overclocked like 1 GHz, right?
DUH
There you go. My BIOS wouldn't post when I had probs. w/ my
processor. Told you overclocking sucks.
Damn why don't I get PAID for this SHIT AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

I don't think he ever *called* himself that. haha
He's a networking guy
right
I will bring up this one very important and sad pont
though...
- Even in A+ class, we learned that Hard Drives are not
viable or justifiable as data backup mediums (look it up).
My point is, is that A+ is frowned upon alot as a
"certification".
You have to build the foundation before you put a house up
on that bitch.

what the fuk you talking about

nothing is overclocked on this box.

and the software would crash on my box so i gave the hdd ot
my mate who just did a hdd backup using the software and now
the hdd wont even post.

it's a problem with the hdd not the computers

ifkardo, thanks, soon as i order another 200 drives or 2,
ill get yer info :)

"the fuk I am talking about"
Must be a different box than you specified in a certain IM
convo we had a while back. That Athlon XP 2400 or whatever u
were chatting about that you OC'd when I was asking about
CPU coolers. How many PC's you got?
"HDD won't post" ... that doesn't make sense. POST means
"Power on self test". And it's what your BIOS does (or not)
when you power on the box.
The fuk I am talking about... back your shit up, foolie-o.
And read some books about computers, not just networks and
Cisco shit.
