you know what's funny about black sabbath? they were
christian rock.

and thanks for making me read another black sabbath thread -
now i have this stuck in my head: "Sabbath Bloody
Sabbath/Nothing more to do"

just that one fragment of the song repeating ad nauseum like
a poisoned-voiced mantra from the bowels of metal hell. so
annoying...

y''ou know what's funny about black sabbath? they were
christian rock.''

Could it be you're afraid of what your friends might say
If they knew you believed in God above?
They should realize before they criticize
That God is the only way to love

That was strange listening to that song at 13 or 14 or
whatever it was, I of course thought I was getting into some
evil Satanic shit. I guess they'll never live the Satanic
stuff down.

When I go to the grave, Black Sabbath are probably going to
go down as one of my top 10 favorite bands ever. Huge
influence on me. Strangely, their later albums were pretty
key in getting me into more eclectic stuff. At that time, I
mostly listened to mainstream (well, relatively) metal like
Metallica, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Pantera, Sepultura, Typo
O Negative, etc. Those later Sabbath albums really deviated
into some weird territory.

yeah, they really ruined that song with incredibly preachy
lyrics. in fact, it almost ruins the album... i have skip
that one.

that's a funny story :)

Bill, you quirky student! Where did I even imply that I'm
Christian there? Not that I'm not. Christian, that is.

I think it was sabbath bloody sabbath that we were listening
to on a warm summers day. In my buddies back yard as we
enjoyed Miller Products.

Good memories!
