Yes, don't read until you're sick of it. Leave yourself
wanting more.

I will never read Ulysees. I'm not very highbrow when it
comes to reading - give me a Tom Clancy and I'm happy ;)

I read Ulysses over the summer. Its really really worth it
if you can hack through it.

The Calypso episode was my favourite. The hallucination bit
in the brothel. I think it was called Calypso... the
references to Homer are a bit lost on me I must admit.

Some of it is actually, very funny. Especially the stream of
consciousness bits from Leopold Bloom.

:)

Ulysses is still on my "to read" list. I loved dubliners and
portrait of the artist, but i get the feeling i'm going to
need some free time to really "get into" ulysses, never mind
finnegan's wake.

I've had it since the summer and I've only read to page 39,
I've had to reread some parts to get a better understanding
of what is happening. The amount of references in it is
overwhelming.

Well I went into it without any notes and stuff, I wish I
had done. I felt I was only just getting into it in the last
few chapters, it works well reading it in a loop i suspect,
although noone has that amount of time.

If I remember I only started to get some sort of enjoyment
from it from the first Leopold Bloom part, you must be near
that now.

My only advice is don't try to understand it. Just read it
and let it wash over you. :)
