I've heard of this... pretty cool stuff...

I bet the guy piloting the rocket thing was a bit nervous

John Carmack (from id software).

X-prize is a $10million prize to first team to create man -
made flights into space (eventually, commercial) but it's
the prestige, not just the money that everyone is after.

they have to completely a successful flight 62.5miles up,
and do it again within a week.

doubt it, they are all pretty much veteran test pilots, so
they've been through hell and back, before. :)
