very compelling interview

does anyone have the link to the girl who did the motorcycle
tour to chernobyl? ican't find the link and i'd love to
read it again....

my favorite part,

"From where I stood I could see a huge beam of projected
light flooding up into infinity from the reactor. It was
like a laser light, caused by the ionisation of the air. It
was light-bluish, and it was very beautiful. I watched it
for several seconds. If I'd stood there for just a few
minutes I would probably have died on the spot because of
gamma rays and neutrons and everything else that was spewing
out. But Tregub yanked me around the corner to get me out
the way. He was older and more experienced."

My mam was pregnant when the fallout cloud was drifting over
bits of the UK. She was shitting it, thinking i was going to
turn out some kind of rampaging, three-eyed,
mentally-deficient mutant.

She was right.

Yes! Thanks, K-M8.

It's almost god-like. I can see bombs falling, but nuclear
science and seeing radiactive material (clouds) is just on a
god-like level I can only imagine.

I feel bad being so interested in it :/

if you want to try and digest it, i more than gather
interest in the information at hand.

Personally, I don't think you have the intelligence to
compete with anyone who knows a simple chem class on this
type of engineering.

Wanna bring it?

Bring it, peice of shit, ........ education will own you.

I'm possibly living closer to Chernobyl than any other xlt
member, but I have anything interesting to say. Well, my
family lived less than 100km from the station, but I have
been in southern part of Ukraine on the day it exploded.
Parents didn't even know something happened, they only were
surprised to see a lot of buses crowded with strange people.
They escaped as soon as they knew what has happened, selling
the house.

Nowadays a lot of people go to Chernobyl to see what's
interesting there now - taking pictures and such. They say
that the nature near Chernobyl is more alive than in other
parts of Ukraine, because there is a small amount of people
by square mile. Maybe just rumours, I don't know..

Dude, i don't even understand what you're wanting to debate.
what exactly are you so hungry to prove you know more
about? I don't see anything to discuss.

umm 50THOUSAND years you mean?

Matvey, hey, I saw yer location in another post and I was
hoping you'd be able to chime in with some info.

That's certainly crazy, I can only imagine the stories.

: /

Like I said, it sounds bad but I would pay anything to go
there like the girl in the link above.....I know a lot of
people suffered and died (for better reasons) but I'm so
drawn to the topic.

whoah!!! I only posted the link cos the website is a
stunning journey thru what happened - and someone asked
where the site was too.

Not cos I wanted some massive debate over who knows what
about Nuclear power.

My two cents.....

I am sorry, it is a really childish joke that I think of
everytime I hear the name Chernobyl.

I did not intend to cause anyone any offence and if I have I
am truly sorry. I always make light of these things
regardless of the gravity of the situation. It is a
personality flaw, that gets me into trouble all the time.

Sorry again.
