No, not really. I am of course talking about the album by
The Smiths. I bought it for a fiver the other day and i'm
absolutely smitten. "The Boy With The Thorn In His Side",
"There Is A Light That Never Goes Out"... it's back to back
gems, i tell thee.

And to stop this being an entirely pointless random praise
thread, i'd be grateful if The Xltronic Community Of Nice
People could recommend me other Smiths stuff. Merci
beaucoup.

'higher level of wit' would've done much better.

and, speaking of morrissey, i can't fucking stop listening
to 'first of the gang to die' from his new lp.

Some advice from huge The smiths fan

You should get their first album:The Smiths
i think it is their best album together with:The queen is
dead

thats all of their albums you need but you need following
tracks

From: Meat is murder - The Headmaster Ritual - That Joke
Isn't Funny Anymore-How Soon Is Now - Well I Wonder -Meat is
Murder

and here just one funny track name - Barbarism Begins At
Home

From: Strangeways Here We Come - Girlfriend In A Coma - Stop
Me If You Think You've Heard This One - I Won't Share You

And their best singeles and bsides are- Is It Really So
Strange - Shoplifters Of The World Unite - Panic - William,
It Was Really Nothing - Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now - Ask
-
Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want - Asleep

And many of these single and bsides tracks are compilationed
on louder than bombs

Buy as soon as i have the money. Birthday on the 19th, work
payday on the 20th = loaded. And smiths albums are usually
on offer in the music stores near me. Bonus.

One of the best albums ever made, there's no doubt about
that. I've never been a fan of Never Had No One Ever, but
everything else on there is a masterpiece, even the filler.

Every Smiths album and every comp is a must have.

I agree. What She Said and Golden Lights are really boring.
But the good outweighs the bad by this much. *outstretches
arms really really wide

The Smiths are brilliant. Personally I would buy Hatful Of
Hollow next, it's not a real album but they never really
went for the whole album thing anyway. Please Please Please
Let Me Get What I Want is their best song. Interestingly
there is an album of various artists covering TQID called
The Smiths Is Dead, I recommend Supergrass's version of Some
Girls Are Bigger Than Others.

classic and one of my favortie albums of all time.

Get it!!!

: )

I agree with Skink on "Meat is Murder", which is my
favourite Smiths proper album, and Dann_ is quite
correct to recommend "Hatful of Hollow" which is an
excellent selection of sessions and singles and what-not.

I really like the new Morrissey song "First of the gang.."
too, so, weighing up all this evidence, I must be
irredeemably homosexual.
