...a good "big robots" film along the lines of Gundam.
IDeally it should be easily available at places like

there is, of course, the one that's simply called "big
robot," but it is pretty crap...

Patlabor is good, directed by the same one that did Ghost in
the Shell.

yeah, looking on Amazon.co.uk Patlabor is definately the
best mecha 'film' available.

I think there's a Neon Genesis compilation type DVD where
it's basically a film but from parts in teh series. I can't
remember.

its ok as a summary for people who have watched the series,
or at least some of it but not for newcomers, your head
would explode if you only watched the movies.
