released mere months apart, both of these are hugely influential records, and, adding to the pointlessness of this "poll", sound nothing alike. nonetheless, which is better?
my vote goes with loveless.

thethirdball > yes, try Loveless... i'm not a BoC fan at all but i really like Loveless =)
... it's a hard choice, really. good poll.
none of these albums is perfect, i think Nevermind has stronger tracks than Loveless but since Loveless is more a "flow" album than a "track-by-track" album, i'm not sure how much sense this makes...
and Loveless does sound more original than Nevermind...
still i think i'd vote for Nevermind, but really not by far.

I know I sound like a tit but "Isn't Anything" is a much, much better album than "Loveless", and "Bleach" is a better album than "Nevermind". Out of all of them though it has to be "Isn't Anything", alright?

despite the fact that they're totally different, i still think loveless has had the more influence overall. i mean, people have been trying to duplicate that guitar sound forever.
nevermind is just a glossy sounding pixies tribute record. and in utero is a steve albini produced pixies tribute record.

i'll be surprised if anyone in the US picks loveless... not to take anything away from the album, but nobody has heard my bloody valentine here. (yes a few have)
the popularity of one vs the other is not even a contest. everyone has nevermind. i'd be surprised if there is a copy of loveless in our local record store.

Nirvanna and Pixies are also more apt in comparison.
Give me seefeel and Pixies in both instances

Who are some bands that tried to emulate MBV? They don't have to be current bands. I'd like to give them a listen. (apart from M83 and the 90s shoegazer scene)

actually, its just that guitar noise thats been persistant in alot of music. and, as said before, boc has definitely been influenced by them.
i just wish kevin shields would write something. anything. his stuff on the lost in translation soundtrack was good, but i want to hear more.

Bauhaus are awesome and actually turned me on to the Pixies. The Pixies opend for them (as Love and Rockets)- saw them together in 1990. Pixies absolutely blew the roof off, and I will forever admire the Bauhaus boys for having the courage to tour with them
