another almost pure analogue electro mp3 album

i just felt like putting that one online (i rediscovered
those tracks while whlie ripping those tons of cro2 tapes
with old recordings i did in the early 90ies and LOVED them
so much).

the equipment used is more than minimal:
- roland jx-3p
- roland tr-606
- roland sh-101
- mc303 groovebox
- yamaha ry-10 drumbox

all sequencing is done with the built-in sequencers, the
trigger/midi interface is my good ol´ korg kms-30.
everything was recorded directly to 2-track stereo tape (no
overdubs, no mix, everything LIVE). no computer used.

this is another huge download (11 tracks, app. 60 MB).

ulrike jokiel 11 track mp3 collection

any comment is welcome!

downloading ( and if this hardware is more than minimal,
then im the best minimalist in the universe, i use only
reason 2.5 )

well, you'd be wrong to assume that Reason is more minimal
than Gacks set-up. Reason is a MUCH more powerfull set-up.

yeah....I mean, it's the sonic capabilities that count not
the amount of bedroom space they take up ; )

slow connection so It'll take me a few hours to get it
(13%).....

I have the same feelings about my early stuff aswell (LOVE
my old stuff so much) so I'm really interested to hear this.

strange thing: except the recording hardware there have been
no really fundamental changes in my equipment since then. -
i´ve always been lucky with my old crap. i never enjoyed
making music in front of a screen. fuck ANY software that
generates sound.

never worked with a sampler until now. if i need any
playback sounds, i use tapes or minidisc.

hmm..... I couldn't live without my samplers & the extra
controll they give me. If you havn't used one before you are
really missing out & should maybe think about investing in a
second hand sampler, you can get them very cheep these days
& they really are invaluable (for me atleast & I'm sure I'm
not alone this one).

iokay... what i said about samplers is not dogmatic. maybe
one day a good old esi-32 will join the team. who knows?

woohoo, I love meeting someone else who records live also
(nice to meet you!)... I've only finished 1 track as far as
my electronic stuff is concerned, but everything I've done,
including the unfinished projects I have started are all
recorded live directly from my synth -> m-audio ozone into
cooledit pro. You still have the lower-fi set up though ;)

I too have slow connection, so once i leave for work im
going to set it to download and when I get home I can listen
and leave feedback.... im excited to hear it though. :)

c:\ album

i think i have posted that one before...

solostuff by me (ulrike jokiel actually was a
collaboration). these recordings (1997-1999) were done under
conditions similar to the ulrike stuff, only the mc303 is
missing here. if you like the ulrike jokiel stuff, you
might like these tunes as well... everything a bit more
ROUGH and weird.

10 tracks, 55 MB, printable artwork. go ahead!

ok, I just listened to your tracks & the first thing that
sprang to mind was "if only this guy had a sampler"....
hehe, I'm half joking because this stuff is very nice.

actually i remember that we used a sampler for some of the
recordings... some crappy footswitch thing we could trigger
from the 606, having 2 sec sampletime max. try to find the
michael jackson sample (billie jean beatloop)... haha.

"Under your Influence" and "Foolhearted" are great tracks.
Got anymore stuff for us? This reminds me a bit of
Skeptopotamus' classic, "Orust Cottage".

ah...

check slsk, AMIGO500

almost everything i share is selfmade stuff (mostly
drone/experimental, but som good ol´ electro dance shit as
well, i especially recommend BLACKIE and GOLDEN ROCKS... if
you´re into breakbeats (hectic ones), try SCHROTT &
METALLE).

this is quite excellent. mad props for recording to tape
too, it's something i've always wanted to try. any
recommendations for a cheap deck?

good to hear an ry10 too, there's another bit of kit i can
never utilize well.

hardware and was thinking that maybe i should just buy some
cheap tape recording gear instead of worrying about anything
else.
