2GHz CPU or equiv Athlon
512MB of RAM
Radeon 9800/GeForce FX 5600 and up
5 channel sound card with speakers (Sound Blaster Audigy 2)
The following graphics cards are all supported by Doom 3: GeForce 3/4/4MX/FX/6800 + ATI Radeon 8500/9000/9200/9500/9600/9700/9800/x800
Well that's not too powerful I suppose :P
I hope that this is NOT the minimum though.

why would you play this game at 640 with all the shit off?
why would you wait all these years in anticipation to play it and not "fully experience" it how it wa smeant to.
if you dont have the specs, dont play the game til you do.
simple as that

Well hopefully the gameplay won't suffer at the cost of ultra-realistic graphics. I hate how so many games feel like you're just watching a movie, but you've just got to push the story along. Might as well rent a fucking dvd.

Wait, is this game out?
Read this:
In terms of insane lightening quick trigger finger skill dominant chaotic gameplay I strongly suspect that the free wad "hell revealed" (AWESOME wad) played with the free doom port "zdoom" (which has nifty features like doubling the graphic resolution) will be better than doom 3 anyway.
Seriously, people should try this and see how insane it is on ultra violence. Playing with the further goal of doing it as fast as possible makes your head repeatedly explode and implode. Try level 13 first (type idclev13). It'd be very difficult for me to imagine a better game than this. It's truly a world you can escape into, and not because the realism of the graphics. It's a seperate... BETTER... reality that my brain would practically be at home in permanently if it weren't for annoying things in this reality that force me to return. It's highly recommended (and free).

Here I think
Try "last look at eden" (level 13) on ultra violence with a pistol start. There's so much depth to these levels because the guy that made them is part of the doom subculture that takes part in contests to record demos of the best times, 100 % kills, etc etc.
It is soooo hard and awesome. That level alone is a game unto itself.

hhhmm, to be able to play this game is it should be played, I'd have to invest $1400 in a new system, not even taking into acount a new and much needed soundcard, so basically; I can forget about it.
Btw Epohs, those diskettes in the picture aren't nearly enough to fit this game on :) Funny idea though.

That would rock. I played the sequel again the other day... one of the few games that can run acceptably on my computer. I remember I was stuck in the first room for like 2 hours once.
The deluge of amazing games coming out, starting with Doom 3, is going to be overwhelming. October to January is going completely drain my bank account, my time, and my semen.
A part of me wants Doom, Half Life, Metal Gear and Halo to crash and burn, just because I love people's reactions when massively hyped shit sucks. Especially when fanboys get defensive. But the smart part of me wants them to rock because they will light up my life.

The double screen resolution is part of the option menu in zdoom (video mode).
I'm pretty sure having an "iwad" (one of the main original wads by id, ie. doom2.wad, heretic.wad, etc.) is necessary to prove that you purchased at least the original. So yes you need doom2.wad, (but after you buy that hr.wad and zdoom are free)... you can probably download doom2.wad on soulseek or definatly buy it on ebay really cheap, maybe 5 dollars.
ps. when I downloaded zdoom, I had to modify the weird file of text that came with it so you may have to also... I forget the file extension but you should see it (if it's even necessary to do so...)
The things I modified: 1) the list of guns (a bug I guess) forgot to list number 5 (rocket launcher), so simply write that in or pressing 5 during gameplay won't allow you to use it...
2) the screen dimensions were like... 480 by 240 or something, but I had to reverse them (240 by 480) if I remember right...
Also I had to fiddle around with the sound options in zdoom's option menu, changing the sample rate or whatever it's called because the game would temporarily freeze and sound a beep occasionally with the default settings... it still does unfortunately but much less frequently.
