get 'bytes' by 'the black dog' or some balil stuff on ART
then... check out Plaid. Plaid of late is pretty tame and
average but their earlier stuff weighs it all out. You can
hear the progression/regresion

I liked the newer stuff more than their earlier. earlier
stuff just seems pretty.. generic, to me.

It wasn't then........ it was pretty revoloutionary. I
still think it's great, not just the rose tinted spectacles
thing. some really nice compositions. Now they make music
for the money, they know when their advance runs out and
they need to sell some records or do a tour. They've put
themselves in that position though..

by getting stoned 24/7 and not using their
talents/circumstances.

I first heard that at the warp party last year and i agree,
probably my favorite of theirs. I love the early black dog
stuff as well!

Restproof Clockwork was the first plaid i heard (not
counting black dog stuff) and it is still my favorite.

generic, yeah. i agree. black dog never really "did it" for
me, even when it was new. though when it was new, i was
more into industrial music so black dog was too fruity for
my goth-rockin' ass.

I love Black Dog and the old school vibe. Bytes is 5 star no
matter how you slice it. No guarantee that you'll like Black
Dog just because you like Plaid, though.

I really like the P-Brane e.p., so that might be worth
checking out, but I also really like both Spokes and Double
Figure, though they are strikingly different. P-Brane kind
of bridges the gap.
