England versus Portugal

I am looking forward to this Euro 2004 Quarter Final match;
I expect it to be the pick of the QF, and quite high
scoring... but, as long as England score one more goal than
Portugal, then I personally will be happy... still, I'm not
terribly confident that England FC will prevail!

It's been quite a shocker already: Spain, Italy, and Germany
all failing to make it past the First Round... incredible.

well, Germany going out wasnt a shock and neither really was
Italy...however, i thought Spain were contenders to win this
year.

England were awesome last game... should be a good game
tonight...

am I correct in saying that if England and Holland win, they
play each other? That'd be cool!

I thought Spain and Italy would go far, well with the big
teams out now England have a better chance. Portugal is
going to be a hard game, they have amazing attaackers and we
have the Neville brothers, thank god they don't both play!

bit harsh :) I thought gary neville had a great game against
Croatia.

C.Ronaldo will be a challenge, even though they play with
him at man.utd.

Why is Owen still making the first team? I don't know what
medication Sven is taking, but hasn't it been months since
he's scored?

vassel does play well when brought on as a sub, playing
against a tired defence, but i think they should sub owen
not rooney, as rooney could provide some great balls for
vassell to chase.

what's everyone's opinion of that goal that was taken away?
Looked like it was a good call to me, but I don't know the
details about football rules... anyone care to comment?

Couldn't have written a better script. I loved how all those
other england players attacked the penalty spot before they
took a shot. Bad penalty spot! It should have been sent off.

He was clearly NOT obstructing the keeper -- his arms were
NOT pushing down on the keeper, who was NOT trying to jump,
but merely flailing his arms around in the air. If the
referee wasn't a biased cunt, the goal would have stood. The
better team did not win, because over the course of ebb and
flow, it was an even game, especially considering Portugal
were the home nation. And the English disallowed goal was
perfectly legal... the referee made quite a few totally
disgracefully biased decisions, and people who are just
using this as an excuse to be Anti-English are twats.

haha
and how after attacking the penalty shot, half of the
english team shot straight through the middle. poor
keeper...but in the end he had his revenge!

he? which he? there were more english players in the area.
campbell, i believe, the player who made the 'goal' did
nothing wrong. it was another player who kept the keeper
from doing his job.

if it had all happened the other way around, you wouldn't
give a fuck. you wouldn't even have mentionned the
incident.

the referee's decision is final.

get over it.

england played a poor game of football. their 'star' players
were way under par. their morale evaporated as soon as that
thug-a-like rooney was taken off. their claim to winning the
game was based on a scrappy scuffle in the goal mouth which
resulted in a foul.
when the screen stats popped up sporadically throughout the
game, portugal had waaaay more posession, they were all over
england. and england had a disgracefully high number of foul
tackles - all rightfully called - they were outclassed and
spent most of the game clutching at straws.

what a goal by Rui Costa, how come he's not in the first 11?
I know he's 32 but so is Zidane.
