BRIDUV from USA on 2002-01-13 23:19 [#00069356]

but then it does seem depressing to think that when we
die..thats it gone...but who knows...not i

AMinal from toronto, canada on 2002-01-13 23:19 [#00069357]

exactly
(previous post)
religion tells people what to do so they dont have to think
for themselves
and what religion tells us to do changes all the time! it
reflects what people WANT it to tell them to do!
ie, in the middle ages, religion told us to burn whiches,
religion tells anti-abortionists to.. i dunno, do their
thing
religion tells terrorists what to do
religion tellls doctors what to do(yes of course it tells
people to do a lot of positive stuff to... but r u seriously
telling me that if it wasn't for the bible.. u wouldn't know
that stealing/killing was wrong?)

AMinal from toronto, canada on 2002-01-13 23:20 [#00069358]

ahh! it happened again!
when i was refering to "previous post" it was actually a few
posts back, sorry

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-13 23:21 [#00069359]

well here's another idea... if you want to talk about the
existence of God, why not talk about the existence of Satan?
If there is a God at work, why couldn't their be another
being at work trying to fool things up, and shit...

but really, this discussion is pointless, cause we each have
our own views, and we're not gonna prove anyone right or
wrong...

Jedi Chris from Tattooine on 2002-01-13 23:21 [#00069360]

When you say "when we die..thats it gone" .... there could
be life after death, i.e. re-incarnation - but then that's
'off topic' isn't it?

BRIDUV from USA on 2002-01-13 23:22 [#00069362]

any other opnions??speak people

BRIDUV from USA on 2002-01-13 23:24 [#00069363]

no one is trying to convince anyone otherwise of thiers
beliefe...its just a discusscion

AMinal from toronto, canada on 2002-01-13 23:25 [#00069364]

ya briduv
i started posting on this post cus i was hoping to discuss
and here some new interesting ideas, not to try to convince
people of anything

Jedi Chris from Tattooine on 2002-01-13 23:25 [#00069367]

The idea of Satan being responsible for all the bad things,
is the same as God responsible for all the good things - I
personally prefer to think that these things just happen,
and it's out of our control (to a certain extent!)

Jedi Chris from Tattooine on 2002-01-13 23:27 [#00069371]

Do either of you believe in re-incarnation AMinal and
Briduv?

BRIDUV from USA on 2002-01-13 23:29 [#00069372]

never really thought about it hard to be honest

AMinal from toronto, canada on 2002-01-13 23:29 [#00069373]

ya if satan were responsible for all bad things.. and humans
were responsible for all good things.. (even though "good"
and "bad" are human creations themselves..) then u dont have
to think very hard to realize that just doesn't work!
then are humans (or any other living thing) not responisble
for anything good or bad that they do?
r we just puppets? (yes, god/satan must be making me type
this right now)
plus everyone's definition of good/bad is subjective
some might say sept 11 was satans work... and people
somewhere else are thanking god for this merical

BRIDUV from USA on 2002-01-13 23:31 [#00069374]

exactly good and bad are defined by society...which is
created by man good nor bad were created by any god
they do not exist...only where sociarty defines them do they
have precidence

AMinal from toronto, canada on 2002-01-13 23:31 [#00069375]

jedi chris,
i used to believe in reincarnation, ya
(i actually used to be really spiritual)
but not anymore
the idea sort of still interests me though...
i'd be open to teh idea if it had some good supporting ideas

BRIDUV from USA on 2002-01-13 23:33 [#00069377]

It all depends on peoples morals which are set by society
they live in...it is so subjective

AMinal from toronto, canada on 2002-01-13 23:34 [#00069378]

i heard that some really young kids (really rarely) seem to
recall memories of past lives.. things they could not come
up w/ on their own
ive been meaning to read up on the topic a little more

BRIDUV from USA on 2002-01-13 23:35 [#00069379]

jedi chris, Aminal..what age category do you fall in. just
curious of the age of the head that these thoughts are
coming from

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-13 23:35 [#00069380]

I guess I am a Christian and stuff, and I have experienced
all the things about being turned off from Christianity and
all that... I once scrapped my beliefs in God, because of
all that which is stupid... I do believe in God, so who
cares what other people do... so that's my view now, I don't
let other peoples hypocrisy bother me, cause I'm sure people
probably think I'm a hypocrite... well, all I can say to
someone who might think that is that I'm not perfect... as
far as proof of the existence of God, well I have personal
proof... I've experienced things in my life, personal
things, that prove to me that God does exist... now I know
that's not good enough for a lot of people...

zetre on 2002-01-13 23:36 [#00069381]

So, you´re saying that all the people in Africa who´s got
AIDS deserved it?!

Jedi Chris from Tattooine on 2002-01-13 23:36 [#00069382]

The idea of re-incarnation is hard to get to grips with for
me . . the fact that you wouldn't remember the life you had,
in a previous life...and so on!

AMinal from toronto, canada on 2002-01-13 23:37 [#00069383]

Briduv,
i was actually just thinking of asking the same thing
im 17, u?

BRIDUV from USA on 2002-01-13 23:37 [#00069384]

christianity in its purest form is ideal...so i give you
kudos for achieveing it...the theory of it is pure few
people live by it though

Jedi Chris from Tattooine on 2002-01-13 23:38 [#00069385]

Briduv - I'm 29

BRIDUV from USA on 2002-01-13 23:38 [#00069386]

i am also 17

BRIDUV from USA on 2002-01-13 23:39 [#00069387]

just a young lad

BRIDUV from USA on 2002-01-13 23:39 [#00069388]

god damn 29 i bet you feel old

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-13 23:40 [#00069389]

well Zetre, no, I'm not saying that the people in Africa
with aids deserve it... when did I say that?

BRIDUV from USA on 2002-01-13 23:40 [#00069390]

well wait in tattoonie years thats what 10?

AMinal from toronto, canada on 2002-01-13 23:41 [#00069391]

jedi chris,
ya i dont take the idea of reincarnation that seriously..
but still, i would not pre-emptively (spelling?) dismiss it
those little kids that remember shit are pretty cool... but
like i said i have to read more.. and i think that chances
are overwhelming that it has some other explanation

Jedi Chris from Tattooine on 2002-01-13 23:41 [#00069392]

Nice one! You'll be an old pensioner like me one day !!
;-)

BRIDUV from USA on 2002-01-13 23:41 [#00069393]

its good to have diversity in age groups different
perspectives

AMinal from toronto, canada on 2002-01-13 23:42 [#00069394]

of course most religions are based on pretty nice ideals..
but no-one actually follows through on them
they believe only as far as is convenient for them

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-13 23:43 [#00069395]

I think that Christians have a bad name because a small part
of the Christian population may be hypocrites who preach one
thing, and do another, and judge people, and all that... but
true Christians are not like that, and it's a shame that
Christians have been stereotyped like that... and another
thing that you must realize, nothing about Christianity says
that you become perfect when you become a Christian...
sometimes I feel like people expect that... the thing is, we
have certain beliefs, and we TRY to stick by them as best as
possible...

BRIDUV from USA on 2002-01-13 23:43 [#00069396]

yes i too hope to one day achieve archival status of
29..assuming i live that long

AMinal from toronto, canada on 2002-01-13 23:44 [#00069397]

jedi chris: lol
briduv: ya i agree
(i have a feeling that by the time i hit the post button so
many msgs will be there that this will sound very out of
place) lol

zetre on 2002-01-13 23:44 [#00069398]

I dunno, it wasn´t really directed towards you. I was just
trying to make a meaningful contribution to the
debate!(admittedly without reading the other posts..)

BRIDUV from USA on 2002-01-13 23:45 [#00069399]

A SMALL POrtion...your joking right?? ide say more than a
small portion of the flock have gone astray

AMinal from toronto, canada on 2002-01-13 23:45 [#00069400]

ya i was right;)

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-13 23:45 [#00069401]

Aminal: No, noone follows through with them to the full,
that's true, because noone is perfect... but not everyone
limits their beliefs and practices to what is convenient...
yet again people are stereotyped...

AMinal from toronto, canada on 2002-01-13 23:46 [#00069402]

lol, ya that flock is pretty astray as far as flocks go
ive seen sheep with more disciplin

AMinal from toronto, canada on 2002-01-13 23:47 [#00069403]

funkmaster
wooaa big fella,
i didn't mean that EVERYONE limits their beliefs to what is
convenient
just hte overwhelming majority

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-13 23:47 [#00069404]

I mean a small portion being people like Televangelist and
stuff who use the Christian religion to make money, stuff
like that... people who cheapen Christianity... I don't mean
a small portion make mistakes and stuff, cause everyone
makes mistakes...

BRIDUV from USA on 2002-01-13 23:47 [#00069405]

haha

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-13 23:48 [#00069406]
