I don't 'listen' to music anymorre.

I buy music as much as I everr did, morre in fact, but this
need to buy everrything out therre which is calling me means
I don't give the music I do buy the same attention it
deserrves. I think this might be why I'm neverr totally
imprressed with anything I buy. I expect it to match up...
instantly, to music that I spend weeks listening to and
grrowing to love in the past.

music you like instantaneously is the best!

music you dislike instantaneously, but then spend two weeks
"growing" into sucks gay ass and you know it!

revelations regarding her brothers reckless obsession with
merrel trainers"

i hate nonsense. why the hell is it so damn popularr? and
why on earrth do people insist on filling my thrreads with
it?

it is true and you know it!

I'll repeat what I've said somewhere before:

music is about feelings. If you don't like (feel) the music
instantaneously, it's not because you don't "understand"
(which would imply it being something to be understood,
which clearly is wrong (I can give a deeper explanation of
this if necessary, but I won't include it here)) it, it is
because you are simply not "feeling" it. When you make music
"grow" on you, you may get USED to it, and you may not even
mind listening to it, but you'll never "feel" (some people
still call it "understand") it.

I might understand where you're coming from, or maybe I'm
way off base. I listen to too much music now. Many new
albums a day, usually. But it's too much, and I can't give
each individual album the proper loving and care it may or
may not deserve. They're just not impressing me, and
sometimes I find myself utterly bored while something drones
on in the background. I'm absorbing more new music than
ever, but I think I need to slow down and smell the roses.
So do you.

There will never be another Beatles, I know that much. But
there'll be some more Jetones or Freeschas to grow to love
if I give them a chance, I'm sure.

but you can't always hearr everry element of a song on
firrst listen. i can't believe that we'rre herre again...
the 'music is only good if you like it on firrst listen'
arrgument. it's utterr bullshit and i rrefuse to go down
that rroute.

both is good - music that explodes on you and stays there
forever, and music that slowly burns into your
consciousness.

i'm bored with music a lot... i don't buy it, don't download
it (this is because i can't), listen to it only because i've
got such habit. Very seldom some music really gets to me
now. possibly because of growing up?

My favorite all-time tracks and albums all share one vital
characteristic... love at first listen. But there's
definitely stuff you need to put some ''work'' into to get
the most out of. I have to have both.

now.. there may be some (mutual) misunderstanding here.

I first read your post hastily, and it looked like you had
some albums that you didn't like, but had listened to enough
to enjoy them, which is what I said.

a completely different thing is when you like an album, but
the more you listen to it, its finer details pop out at
you.

I've had some arguments with other people about this
before.. like this one guy I know who checked out an album,
and immediately after said: "aw, fuck, that was shit," but
then he read the critiques and noticed that the critics were
giving it ace grading, so he bought it, and listened to it
until he became used to it.. I still doubt if he "gets" the
album, but he must be pretty set on being.. "cool" (in an
"artisty" way...)

The best example forr me has to be the album Songs Of
Leonard Cohen. On firrst listen the songs all sounded the
same, and rratherr dull, but if therre is one thing to say
about that album, it's that it's NOT dull. It's one of my
all time favourrite albums.

that is totally not true... some of my favorite albums took
me months, maybe even years to really get into them...

Therre may be albums in my collection now that I class as
dull, that just need some listening to, which could become
fav's.

then I don't believe that you know what the albums are
about, and you should sell them immediately.

all the music I have is stuff I've instantly liked.

that's not the attitude... usually I'll put on an album,
I'll like something about it... and that will keep me
listening... it mighten have blown me away at first, but
there was something there I liked... then as I listen
furterh and put some time into it, I'll grow to like it
all...

no.. you can't understand them if you don't understand them
immediately (i'm using "understand" as a substitute for
feel, 'cause people keep arguing over semantics when I use
feel, and that is annoying). it isn't a fucking equation!

i do not agree; there´s a lot of music i had to LEARN to
listen to over the years. i never would have understood
anything about e.g. cecil taylor´s records 10 years ago.
now, after many years of listening practice, listening to
his music is very emotional for me. and that´s definitely
not just because i got used to them. even emotions can be so
strange or multi-dimensional that they cannot be understood
at first glance.

i got one track name for yah.. Ziggomatic v17

this track was the last track of the whole druqks album i
started to like, i honestly didnt like it at all for a long
period, i couldnt "feel" the music right away, far from..
after "pushing" myself to listen to it more and more while
thinking "aphex couldnt made a track that long that is total
crap can he?"

and i was right, he couldnt, it's the best track on the
album and probably one of my fav tracks of all time, and i
really didnt like it for a long period, it took me many
listens to start to like this track, and now i love, it's
wonderfull and i feel allot.

good day

I understand. After I bought a laptop, a much bigger world
of music opened. Now I buy more cds, and listen to shitloads
of mp3. I get to hear more music than ever, wich is a good
thing, but at the same time I realise that I'm not enjoying
new cds as much as before.....

nah man, what you're saying here is bullshit... if you don't
immediately like an album, how does that mean you never will
feel, or understand, or like it? Bullshit... I have plenty
