I've listened to this again and it's not as bad as I initially thought. I think my hopes were too high.

memphis bells will be on the album too. it's on the lp sampler with girls (only vinyl), people have ordered it online but it's yet to arrive. shouldn't be long until it pops up on slsk.

Not a fan... as Ecnad said, I'd probably not mount much praise on this if someone posted the track as their own. I don't think it's the quality of the track as it only occurs in places, but the production is pretty poor and the distortion sucks. Lo-fi is one thing, but crackly is poor.
It also "lacks balls". Admittedly the bass is quite good and DnB like, but the track as a whole is a bit "girly" (no pun intended). I associate Prodigy with aggro and rage filled drives at speed through crowded streets- not cheesy nightclub dance.

This is NOT fucking WINDOWLICKER.
If someone played this song for me and didn't say anything I would never guess 'prodigy'. I will be downloading the rest of the album when I can...

It's a great track. it grows slowly tho, first time i've heard it left me quite puzzled. i definitely appreciate the new liam style, and the fact that keith voice is not on the track. it has a number of influences... but this fact is no news, prodigy music always had a lot of influences and refereces thown here and there.

I remember the Time Magazine article about Prodigy, Chemical Bros., Underworld, Orbital and others coming stateside with this whole "Electronica revolution" thing in '97 or so. Wow, what a nostalgia trip. I really enjoyed Fat of the Land, it came during an important time in my life. I didn't find it as diverse as Music For The Jilted Generation and some songs were kind of repetitive to me (like "Narayan", but with those mantras, maybe that was the point?) but it definitely has this unique, hard-hitting, rocktronica (yes, a squiggly term) sound.
IMHO "Poison" was like the bridge between Prodge's 2nd and 3rd albums, it's apparent how they were evolving their sound.
:)

this is kinda cool, nice and different to FOTL. not really understanding comparisons to windowlicker and that bass is good enough to eat.
although i hope the whole album does not sound like this, the 80s electro revival is so 2002.

So, this track has grown on me quite a bit lately and although there are still bits of it I'd change, it's a pretty good track. I had been waiting to see what it was like in a club. I was in one Friday night and about half the dancefloor left and those who remained went into "half-arsed" dance mode. Bah.
