I just finished listening to it straight through...And
well...Hmmm, how can I put this, its not too impressive.
Does anyone know if it was Mix Master Mike that did the
beats for this album?

Anyone else heard it yet?...

I think its quite nice, too damn heavy to listen many times
over and over again.. but i like it.. straight up basic rap

This album is so unbelievably shit!

most of the beats/lyrics sound like shitty local rap groups
that used to consign cds at a record store i used to work
at.

pathetic.

I really like it.

MCA's voice has matured nicely.

Self produced album, so I guess the 3 beasties did the
beats. No mention of MMM in the bits of info i've read. Kind
of into the new one but the track is so basic (how many
times can you use a generic stab) its hard to get
enthusiastic about it.

I love the beasties though so I hope the album will have
some good stuff on it.

Which are the better tracks on the album? in yer opinion

Maybe I am being quick in judgement, I have only given it
one good listen, but as far as the beats and all, Even Hello
Nasty whooped these...

They should have never got rid of DJ Hurricane...

I heard about 2 songs. Skimmed over about 5 more.. then got
very depressed. Disappointing to say the least. I would've
thought they would've done more rock stuff and less rap
stuff, which, considering their age was much less
embarrassing.

1) MCA's voice is practically gone... it sounds like he has
emphysema.

2) the beastie boys "self produced" most of hello nasty and
that was much better.

they may be to old and to white for hip hop

Most of it sounds like Blackeyed Peas! I don't think much of
it

I liked

3 the hard way - Track 3
Triple Trouble - Track 6
and I guess

Shazam - Track 11

But even those ones didnt really make an impact. I mean
theres no instruments played let alone no mellow
instrumentals.

Just dissapointing...I read its supposed to be a strictly
NYC dedicated album...hence why there is all old school
beats and no real live playing.

best tracks for me:

oh word
open letter to nyc
shazam

and for some reason whenever i hear that 'now get busy!!'
sample it makes me think of bill_hicks' avatar

i really don't care if it's all rhodes, wah guitar, bongos,
violins, guitars, computers, whatever.

bad music is bad music. these songs wouldn't be better on
live instruments, and i think most people were done with the
instrumental jams after ill communication

"self produced"? does this mean that mario caldato jr. did
nothing on the album? he's the man behind the sound of many
BB albums, just check his Biography. If this is the case that's
explain why "ch-check io out" sounds so "basic" and
uninspired.

some tracks are alright...some aren't...my favourite are:
-rhyme the rhyme wlll
-that's it that's all
-the brouhaha (my favourite)

maybe i'll start liking it more after a few more listens...i
still love them...

Sounds samey, uninspired and dull like an amateur demo or
something, it's nothing like their other releases. At first
I was hoping to have downloaded a fake version like I had
with the roots' "the tipping point", but it wasn't. :\

im really starting to love this album...some songs are
brilliant, and i love the oldschool/minimalistic sound of it
a lot!!

sounded when i was a kid =)

well they said themselves that they would make hip hop like
it was made 10 years ago. and in a way they are doing
something original if you would compare it to the dull
meaningless gangstarap.

Anytime anyone mentions this album I have to immediately go
and play it from begining to end (which can be
inconvenient). My fave is "All lifestyles", specially when
Mike D goes "Bagel from Bob and a TV dinner", sigh, *winsome
look*
