This is a bit of a followup to the 'wasted membership
money' thread. I was just thinking, maybe xltronic could get
some advertisers. Any company would be happy to advertise on
the MB page, as it always has people on it. That's just a
little suggestion from myself. Anyone else got any good
ideas that could help along the xltronic money situation?

membership should be raised to 50$ per year.

I was surprised to see Phobs post about $1200 a year. What
makes this site so expensive? Is there something we can live
without? Old threads? The soundclips in the discog? If the
discography is going to be as big as I think, the size of
XLT will increase drastically?

the high amount of money is probably because of the vibes.

normally, when you rent a server, you get bandwidth
restriction, and if you exceed that, you have to pay more
money.

you also pay for space, and there are 11 or so vibes hosted
on the server...

He wouldn't probably run this site anyway if he had to pay
$1200 out of his own pocket just for THIS SITE. He's
employer probably pays some of the hosting cause it's
connected to his work somehow... or he hosts some other
sites which pay him for the hosting... At least that's how
it usually is :P

I personally hate advertisments and I'm fucking fed up with
these shitty banners flashing everywhere. Xltronic.com is
one of the sites that has stayed clean of this shit.

o.k fair enough. I was however thinking of advertisers that
would interest xltronic members. For example adverts
advertising a new artist hosting site.

boo for advertisements!
I like the way it is, I am happy with donating (although it
only covers a very small cost).

I think the best one would be if more people paid.

it's only $10.

well I don't think members are going to be donating for
long. When you look at the progress over the last 2 or so
years there isn't going to be much incentive to donate
anymore. There has to be other areas of income, not just
donations.

Have Phob said anything about how many Premier Members XLT
has?

I am paying for this site all alone from my own
pocket - and it has not anything to do with my work.

It's a dedicated server with a fixed monthly fee of $100
(not including the domain costs).

How about...

1. Every member get to sign up free

2. Every member gets 100 free posts before they must pay $5
for a years unlimited posting capability.

3.Members who pay $10 will get the picture posting and
record bag use.

Also the gallery & xlt vibes/videos should only be
accessible to registered users.

sheesh, if you like coming to the mb, how hard is it to fork
over the $10?

what is that - one less record you buy?

yeah one thing I like about donating cause that's the only
money this site gets.

Also... if you don't like the forum why do you visit?
I am looking forward to the site, but I really don't mind
paying $10 for the forum alone. It's so clean and nice, and
with nice people.

Sell every member's email address to spammers, or at least
the addresses of members who have received a B7.

How about every member that wants to pay a nice amount, can
advertise their music (banners) supporting independent
music. It would raise a bit more and liven up the right side
of the screen, and let people see good music (or someone who
pays $50 music) (our music).. without getting fucked up the
ass horizontly with a the MRSA bug. Im not talking about
shitty banners flashing viagra at you.

I still think the idea of having cash targets to achieve
certain goals, they could be like the polls. You could have
a montly target of the hosting fee ($100 or whatever) and
then they'll remove the eyes at the top of the page (I've
already designed a header without eyes, you can just slip it
in) or ummm, Phobia can give away a record..... or
something.

how about we all make a really good track. All the tracks
get put onto a compilation CD. The CD will not be up for
download. The only way to get the CD will be through paying
for it. Say $10 - $20? I know that I would buy it

How about we set up a rent scheme where members can go out
on the streets for Xlt, a few blown old men, give 50%
profits to xlt (including wet tissues) and keep the other
50% for mental health treatment. Saved

I think I like the idea of a Cd now ^^

120 of us every year? Phobes already said he has to pay
$1200 every year out of his own pocket.
