Pule is the perfect moment of serenity after the rough static ending of recury and before the assault of nuane

Pule is like breathing, it makes me think of soaked trees or wood or some weird mushroom trip having to do with wet moss. *boggle boggle*
The one I don't like really is cichli, it has a few good elements though.

I'm not really a big fan of Autechre, but Pule and Tewe are pretty nice pieces. Is there more that sounds more like this from them?
ah.. have to add Nuane as a good track as well... (I'm listening on bleep right now).
..I might end up buying this CD if I see it, actually... but only if I see it.

From what I can remember pule's melody is symmetrical, if you play it backwards it sounds the same as it does forwards apart from the actual sounds being in reverse. I could be wrong though, as I was completely mashed when I tried it.

really a stunning CD. I like pule for precisely the reason horsefactory gave--a moment of respite before the storm. It's ridiculously innocent, and nuane isn't only nasty but also a culmination of tracks before it (see how beats develop between it and the two immediately prior pule).
The first tracks are all really pretty as well. I think hub, rettic ac (for alternating current? something to do with the static and sound fluctuation?), and nuane are my favorite tracks.
Someone was asking about 'happy IDM tracks' a while back and I was surprised when none of these were mentioned.
They keep playing around with shocking timbre changes in this.. it used to often bother me when recury came on.
I like how rettic AC and calbruc are two approaches to a similar problem.. one day I need to sit down and parse all of these titles.

You mean simple letter combinations? It's quite easy, and there are a few logical ways.
chiastic slide .. cichli
li from slide and cich from first is one way (I'm doing some hand waving on details for sake of boredom). I guess you can keep first two and tag them on to reversal of last two. There are more rigorous/formulaic ways to explain it...
what I really mean is I need to expand all the words and relate definitions.. Nuane sounds most obviously like nuance, but nuane is violent. Maybe it's a paradox? I bet it's something much more complicated though, or some homonym shit (like drukqs)

After Tri Repetae++, the stunning leap forward with which Autechre astounded the techno world, the duo's fourth proper album came as a disappointment to many. The waves of polar static and mechanic clicks which distinguished Tri Repetae make Chiastic Slide little more than a variation on a form. Even worse, the album has too few ideas for its near 70-minute length, and the duo seem content with short loops being repeated and repeated over again for up to ten minutes on a single track. Though several songs are on a par with Tri Repetae — and that's being generous — Chiastic Slide just can't compare with Autechre's other work.

the thing with this cd is, i heard so many people saying it is one of their favs, and i just think the things this album does well are kinda covered by tri rep and lp5.
i dont know... i dont see this one as really having a defined identity like most do.
i have definitely warmed up to this album more, but i just think theres somethign im not getting.

tri repetae++ is really a nice grab, isn't it? Especially since the part from garbage is what I like so much.. it's doubtful they'll do this, why don't you try to check a couple of the good tracks (lots of suggestions on this thread) and give it a listen?

I cannot relate to that at all. This album has much more of a definitive style to it than LP5, and is a lot deeper than that or Tri Repetae, in my eyes.

By the way, Harrisburg is kind of a cute place--I drove through one month back. Ate at the firehouse, probably the strangest social meeting place/restaurant ever.

Dude I was really perplexed by the firehouse. A friend forced me to eat there--I wanted to eat at 'second wok' next to 'the spot' (in NYC I often eat at this cheap chinese shithole called 'wok city' next to my old school).
Anyway, it seemed like it was the high society meeting place. It was fucking surreal. Oh and they treated me and my friend like shit.
Any funny stories? I'll warn you when I get near harrisburg again (I may be driving through in about half a year--still uncertain).

irish pub, live celtic music. its nice for the first hour, but then youre like "can we go NOW!?!?!?!?!?"

HA, that's pretty awesome. The spot was terrifying. I walked in and 40 people with mullets and lumberjack clothing either glared at me or managed to ignore me in some elaborately hostile way.
I walked in, walked out. People looked like they lived there.
Yeah I'll definitely tell you when I stop by.
