Chiastic Slide is Autechre's best album.

I visit here more often than people might think
actually...(often just reading threads without signing in)

it's just that I don't post nearly as much as in the good
old days...

this is where ae really started to go experimental. it took
their sound to a whole other step.

every fan should own this one. it sounds way to repetive on
first listens, but after a while, the genious hits you like
a ton of bricks.

I think Chiastic is equally their best, with LP5. This is
the most emotionally affecting electronica release, to me.
Cipater, Tewe (!!!) and Calbruc are just godlike tracks.

Nuane is one of my favourite ae tracks ever. And the best
way to end a mix known to man.

Regarding the title, I recall ae making vague allusions
towards 'the mysteries of the crossfader' in interviews
before (2 stereo channels on the left deck, and 2 on the
right? wtf) but he was probably taking the piss.

I can't believe I haven't posted in this topic yet.

this is my favorite AE CD!

I think Confield is their masterpiece, but as far as being
more accessable and easier to listen to (I have to be in the
right mood for confield) I think this album wins.

Was listening to this for the first time in ages on the bus
today by coincidence, best bus journey I can remember.
Definately one of my faves. So wanna listen to Rettic AC
whilst trudging through snow, for some reason..

i like this because it never will sound dated, i think this
is where ae decided to make whatever they want, they stopped
relying on the traditional and just broke out. its the
beginning of the beginning. i like some of the stuff that
preceded it, envane, tri rep ++, this is the ae i love.

This album is delicious.

I like the crunchy, grainy percussion and rich melodies that
most trax exhibit.

Envane has this same texture, as does Gescom - Keynell. Of
course, they were all released around the same time. I
wonder what kind of gear was used to make the percussion
crunchy.

i really dig this album, cipater and tewe are marvelous.
keynell has the same kind of depth and dirty production.
it's the ae sound i prefer the most.
