...xltvibes... I've never really bothered looking into this, as I rarely have the opportunity to upload my music, and thus never could participate earlier. Therefore, I don't know how this works... questions 1: can just anyone make a suggestion to the next theme? 2: does the previous one have to be finished before a new one can be suggested? 3: what has been done? 4: why is the 8th and the 11th going on at the same time? |

Welllll in thad case... id like to suggest the thing i wrote above, something glitchy and cruchy based on short weird samples collected from real life (you could see this as a autechre / matmos imitation idea) i dont neccisarily (sp?) want to host and mix it, i just think id' be a good idea... |

we've had that discussion before. i suggested a ZOO compilation where each track would describe one animal from the ZOO. |

I don't know if this idea has been mooted before, please forgive and burn ALL my posts if it has, but I thought of something along the lines of a radio mix, kind of a sampler of Xltronic acts, but put together in a mix of say between 30 mins to an hour, with the concept of it being like a radio show. With maybe short "jingle" segments, random strangeness, sonic links etc binding the music tracks. A version could also be put together in Flash as well as CDm, which could display details of the current track or segment playing, with as much visual or textual info as you wanted. The reason being there are so many good tracks it'd be nice to make some form of sampler, edited versions of tracks and snippets, but with the facility to follow up the ones people liked. I am babbling now. I've stopped. |

I can't afford the time to "run" one, but here are ideas for ones I've had knocking around for a while that people are free to use: Acid (must have 303 type sound, rebirth, audiorealism, etc. is fine) Detroit Techno (again, rebirth type sounds, classic detroit techno style) Hip Hop (electro hip hop, autechre/boc hiphop beats, trip hop, 808s etc, all acceptable) ^Above ones all "paying homage" to major influences of the IDM sound Other ideas: Glitch (oval style stuff, preferably no noticeable quantisation etc. you really should call this one something witty like "9litch&vibes*///") The New School (Must be as genre avoiding as possible- rather than making something that people can describe as "melodic noise" or "trip hop" or "drum and bass with classical instruments", try to make a track that sounds as little like "normal" IDM as possible. Avoid cliches and conventions, hopefully come up with a really mindblowing new genre) |

Oh yes, last one: The Peacemaker (You must collaborate with someone you don't get along with on the board, eg Me with WMW, JAroen with Promo etc. Rather than being seen as an opportunity to slag people off/destroy something they've made, it should be seen as a reminder that music transcends our political ideals, outlooks on life and personalities and that we have common ground with everyone here) |
