Also Fantomas.
There's somebody from Melvins - guitarist, maybe.
Especially book 6 from first album - there's a complete
sarcastic madness in the end!

well, apart from "excellent electronic music" or
"intelligent dance music", i also have some "mega-awesome
rocking music", some "lyrically superb music", some
"magistral noisy music", some "shiny brand-new magnificent
instrumental music", some "hyper-powerfully danceable
music", some "astrally mindblowing experimental music", some
"gorgeous post-new-jazz music", some "teardropping sublime
music of sorrow" and some "ultra-super-cool awesome
astonishing music of joy and glee".

yes, those new genre names have just been invented, but
they're so much better than "rock" or "trip-hop" or
"electronica" or "experimental"... so much cooler, and
absolutely not ridiculous nor pretentious. =)

Not yet. Look forward, really. I like the first Fantomas.
When Patton goes the
"ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ooooh" in
track nr. 6, i'm starting to feel elated and sarcastic and
happy, and can't hold a wide smile.

Does somebody know Aksak Maboul?
this is a 1977-1981
belgian team of many people, including Marc Hollander, Fred
Frith, don't remember the others. I picked a cd without
titles and bandname once, and spent then some hours
searching for who the authors are...

probably hide them somewhere.)

i saw battles live in nyc months ago. they were pretty
cool. the drummer was john from helmet/tomahawk. they
mostly used guitars and a lot of loop/delay effects.

i'm also really into fantomas - i've seen them at least six
or seven times live. their new album is awesome! pure
genius

Dead Can Dance - two interpretations of the bandname:

1) Dead bodies are able to dance

2) the dance of a dead can

.....
nothing personal.

i got confused by the band name too at first, i always
thought it was some goth 80's dance band. Far from it, this
description from the all music guide is pretty accurate:

"Dead Can Dance combines elements of European folk music --
particularly music from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance
-- with ambient pop and worldbeat flourishes. Their songs
are of lost beauty, regret and sorrow, inspiration and
nobility, and of the everlasting human goal of attaining a
meaningful existence."

Easily one of my favourite bands, Lisa Gerrard does a lot of
soundtracks now, she helped with the Gladiator one and she
made the one for Whale Rider.

listen to Autechre's Piste, but have that only partially, 2
parts of 2 songs, like one of them very much. Can somebody
tell smth about these tracks? As far as i know, "piste"
means "track", so maybe there are other titles?
