Aphex Twin Completists

Hi,

I am currently constructing an Aphex Twin discography and I
was wondering how many of you try to complete your Aphex
record collections by obtaining all the original remixes and
elusive tracks on compilations etc. ? If you would regard
yourself as a 'completist' please let me know what records
you have got and what you are still trying to get to
complete your collections.

Cheers, Probe.

you should check out the xltronic discog for all the hoaxes
plus everything he has ever released. There are a coupme
of members here that were trying a few weeks/months ago to
obtain some of the more elusive tracks. I forget who
though. Try the search box.

Yeah, I've looked at he xltronic discog which is good.
Personally I have been attempting to track down those
elusive tracks and remixes like "Perc #6", "Sand Lowe
(Polygon Window remix)" etc. Just wondered who else is
too...

a vinyl-player then, so I didn't buy it.

i had the aphex discog addiction once, thankfully ive since
lost it after realising far too late that most of his albums
are shite, and its only individual tracks that are awesome.

I think it's a case of him not releasing as much nowadays,
so I've kinda gone searching for rare stuff, in particular
tracks by Aphex I've not heard yet. But I diasgree with you
that most of his albums are shite.

AB 5 12" was on ebay a while back, it went for well over
£1000. I don't think it has ever been proven that Q-chastic
was a proper release (ie, that it is anything other than
that one track).

offline probe from United Kingdom on 2004-03-25 09:16 [#01117809]

£1000K?!?! No way?! That's just ridiculous.

I have my doubts about the Q-Chastic 7" (500 of them
existing), no-one ever talks about it and I've never come
across it. So I'd be surprised if it really did exist. I
have the Q-Chastic track on the ART/Rephlex CD though.

Q-Chastic does exist... have spoken to a few people who used
to own the vinyl (2x12 cut as 10) promos... RDJ himself said
he doesn't even have a copy anymore and the only existing
masters are at his parent's house in *****.

I came this close to getting a guy to scan them
many years ago... never panned out though.

heh...I'll believe when I see it....

Most talk I've heard of it is gossip, plain & simple....

IT DOESN'T EXIST - even the rarest releases show their faces
once in a while; Not so for QC, which is inivisible it seems
(& surely given the interest at least 1 copy would be doing
the rounds...)...

Don't believe everything someone tells ya, Joy....

"Q-Chastic does exist... have spoken to a few people who
used
to own the vinyl"

That's the thing, I know of people who know someone who
claims to have it. However, I have never seen it, nor does
anyone I know (and trust) claim to actually have a copy.

Look at AB5, there are fewer of those than Qchastic and yet
they surface from time to time.

***** == Respecting Richard's privacy, nothing more.

Jand: So, following your logic, all the pre-Twoism releases
must not exist, since nobody seems to admit to having them,
and they never pop up.

Like the pre-Twoism BoC stuff, Q-Chastic was just a test
pressing (like CAT003, Grant's EP) and wasn't meant for
public consumption.

Rephlex/Richard don't want anyone hunting this release down
- I am sure they are bored to tears with everyone asking
about AB5 and Q-Chastic... they are focused on releasing
new, relevant music, not the old stuff .

We all have our holy grails I guess...QC does seem to have
become almost a religeous icon to some..

It's probably hidden in aphex submarine ;)....

they are focused on releasing
new, relevant music, not the old stuff
....

Are you SURE?...They seem to have a more than passing
interest in the classics of the past; retro-techno.....
