I think that the Process had potential to be an amazing
album, but as had been said before, it just wasn't finished.
There definately some signs of stylistic differences in the
album (1st half vs. 2nd half), but I think that whatever
direction they would have taken (if they continued after the
process, that is) would have been done effectively. I think
you can see this by the high quality in really all of the
albums that cev and ogre (goettel for that matter, too)
worked on after puppy.

I hope this made some sense, because I can't make any out of
it now after reading it.

wow. where to begin? HOW to begin?

let me compose my thoguhts here.

ok, i guess i'll get the obvious out of the way before i get
into any kind of details.

this is nothing short of a total breakthroguh in their
sound.
i dont know when the last time i've heard music this fresh
and full has been. it is absolutely stunning. it ranges the
gamut of emotional content you expect form skinny puppy:
lament, fear, hope, longing...

it is simply beautiful music.

and to put to rest the "do they get down with idm?"
question?
YES they do and it SHOWS BIGTIME!
theres some real autechre-esque beat manipulation here.
theres also a few grooves that feel comparable to "my red
hot car" or something. its hard to explain right if you dont
just hear it.

ok, so what SHOULDN't you expect to be hearing from this
album?
whatever youre thinking.

what CAN you expect?
dude...

there are elements form every era of their sound.
things like "first aid" type 808 beats mixed with last
rights-ish orchestrations. there IS an ohgr element, but its
done very well, i feel. more tamed. theres even elements of
stuff like download's drum and bass stuff from effector.
theres MILITARY MARCHING type sections. theres even a
plateau-ish dubbed out bassline or 2. now dont get me
wrong....
this is NOT just a marriage of 2 thigns into 1 thing. it has
a VERY strong identity of its own. while it does have a wide
variety to it, it also stays true to an aesthetic that
theyve been crafting for decades. AND its the next logical
progression from last rights and the process. youll find
yourself saying "so THAT'S what they were getting at!" in
regards to the unfinished final abum with dwayne. this is a
total masterpiece. i give it...

5 out of 5!

i could say so much more, but i think i will let you find
out for yourself just what is in store.

it REALLY gets going around 4-7, after the REALLY epic track
3.

it gets darker and more obviously puppy-ish. tones the
electro/club stuff down justa bit.

hmm... actually the first 3 tracks are the best to me. it
kind of gets worse after that. it's still really good, but
not AS good. and use-less is a terrible song, and i didn't
even know it was the one with the static x guy when i formed
that opinion. it's just bad.

now i've heard it all! very nice... i'm surprised in a
positive way. it does NOT sound like oghr, and i'm thankful
for that!

there are rumours here saying that it may not be the final
mix that was leaked. at some point an older SP track is
supposed to be mixed in accidentally... has anyone spotted
that?

theres a synth in one track that SOUNDS like the intro to
love in vein, but to the discerning ear, is much cleaner
sounding than the beatles sample used on said track.

you are right! The synth from love in vein does not sound at
all misplaced...

conspiracy theory #1:

i don't know who this guy that calls himself thee databomb
is, but it seems he's is in someway connected with the band.
maybe they are trying to spread rumours it's not the final
mix just to make people more interested? remember hail to
the thief? PR stunt?

just found this comment on another board:

"in "neuworld" there is a really bizarre break at 1:43 where
for like 3 seconds it plays part of Morphous"

i don't have the mp3's here at work... can someone confirm
this?

at 1:43 seconds in neuwerld, he is in the middle of a line.

no, there is no break right then.

Apparently there are three different versions right now.
One was sent out by the band to dj's, radio stations, and
the like. The other two are leaked versions from the mixing
process.

I must admit I gave in and downloaded this despite the fact
that I told myself and others that I wouldn't. I did notice
the part in Neuwerld that you are talking about. The clip
is from Morphous, yes.

I've yet to form an opinion on the album yet. I'll wait to
get the final album before doing that.

well, if this is in the mix, then im DYING to hear the final

hmmm.... id liek to hear the version you have to compare to

mine has no morphous sample.

interesting.
now my curiosity is REALLY piqued
