tibbar - since you have no break in Neuwerld my guess is you
have the final version.

i have the mp3 here at work today, and i have the ones WITH
the break...

i'm dying to hear the version YOU have! :)

i'm not downloading it.

i just want wait and hear the whole real thing all at once.
but it's a tough wait.

evolume: its worth it, just trust me.... wait. you wont be
disappointed.

acidophilus: yeah, now see i d/led a second version of the
lp off someone else (who will remain nameless), and his
version sounded like mine... i dont hear any sample from
morpheous, unless its mixed WAY back or something. theres no
break at 1:36, thats whats throwing me off.

and i think mine might be the final version, but theres some
tiny details that make me think maybe just maybe it isnt.
but then again, whos to say either is the final... maybe
none of the leaked ones are, or very few might be.

same basic feeling applies to hail to the theif when it was
leaked...
who knows, all im saying is this album rocks. HARD.

we will eventually find out the differences between the
leaked versions. no hurry i suppose...

and half-arsed versions if i try downloading it. i want it
all in one main-line poke to my ear-vein.

the only track i don't like (yet) is use less...

first 2 tracks are little too much process-ish for my taste,
but none the less quite good. they will probably grow on
me.

ghostman, empte, neuwerld, goneja, daddyuwarbash are all top
notch!

i haven't really decided on downsizer and past present...
they're time will come! :)

i dont like the verse to useless, sounds limp.

and i dont like the vocal intro to the last track.

downsizer i dig... i pretty much dig em all.

past present... man, thats tough. i like parts of it alot,
im not crazy about that bassline during the chorus thoguh.
hmmm

but all in all, great album. empte, goneja, gostman, and
pro-test are my current favs.

what they do with ohgr's voice on this album is
ground-breaking. i've never heard so many edits, chops,
effects, re-arranges and processes done with/on and to, the
human voice. a screen shot of the digital arrangement for
any one of these tracks would look insane.

empte is frickin' amazing.

glasse raised an interesting idea...

it would be nice to see ogre as a part of download.
a download tour with both spybey and ogre on vocals would
treat me real nice.

or just seeing him on occasional new download stuff.

just picture it as a chimunk with the furr around it's mouth
caked with congealed gore. and maybe the chipmunk is also
wearing a blood-stained oversize red shirt with a huge
yellow "A" on it.

Yea my thoughts on the album ...

Some tracks are really good .. namely 1, 3, 5, 7 ,9, 10. It
does continue in the spirit of the Process, which while I
think is a slightly more accessible, even commercial sound
it does have some great moments. At the same time I
understand that a lot of the abstractness and surrealness
that came with the old puppy sound was somewhat drug induced
and I am glad that Ogre got cleaned up and that him and Key
are working together again, perhaps in a healthier fashion.

While I will definetly buy the album, my plan is to make a
mix CD of half this and half the Process to listen to most
of the time, since I really like about half of both albums
and they both have enough in common to ensure a cohesive
listen and I won't have to skip tracks.

I have really been into making personal 'best of' CDs in
general lately. I made one for Download and I find myself
listening to that 10x more than I would have listened to the
individual albums.

I think I may do the combo, select track thing with EP7 and
Chiastic Slide, too.

ah but j: if you ONLY listen to that, you give up on
somethign from what you DIDNT put on there become a fav of
yours.

what i mean is...
the cd isnt even out yet, and youre going to rule out about
half the album.

im just saying, if i only had burned the tracks i dug from
confield and chiastic on a cd, i prolly never wouldve looked
back and gave them a chance.

just saying theres always that possibility.

I was downloading some aduck last night. That is some fine
stuff and ahead of it's time. I was getting all
sentimental. I found a picture of Goettel and made it my
desktop background.

I hope some time in the future his family comes around to
letting Cevin put out more of his stuff, although I get the
feeling that maybe they just associate puppy and everything
they were about with Dwayne's downfall. I dunno though.

power is excellent funny fun stuff.
the one form wild planet is good too.

theres a fake one going around called field, but i forget

This cbc recording of One Time One Place I got is pretty
weird. I dig Chainsaw kinda too, at least I did back then.
Some of the rest of the album isn't great although I don't
even remember what is on it. The production is weird, has
this clean and transparent thing to it.

having the nerve to call this a Skinny Puppy album.

I know you like to think you're Skinny Puppy's #1 fan around
here but I'm quite certain I've been listening to them
longer than you and it's not easy to watch one of your
favorite bands deteriorate. Consider yourself fortunate that
you were able to enjoy this album. I envy you.

please,
so somehow, anyone who likes this album is less of a fan
than you?

or because you've supposedly been listening to them longer
than us, you are somehow a bigger fan and therefore your
opinion carries more merit?

what a load of bull shit

offline steve from chicago on 2004-04-04 18:43 [#01132340]
Points: 1156 Status: Lurker

evolume, I didn't say anyone who likes this album is less of
a fan than me. Or because I've been listening to them longer
my opinion carries more merit. I wanted to make it clear to
him that he's not the authority on Skinny Puppy around here.
His word isn't law. I'm entitled to my own opinion as a long
time fan. If you praised the album in this thread you see
that he's all smiles and high fives. Now someone says it's
terrible and he says "who asked?"

You should be choking on the absurdity of that alone.

Also by stating how long I've been listening to them I was
hoping he'd understand me a little better. That by my
statement he'd know that I dealt with the break up. That
everytime I listened to them I'd hope they'd reunite. Then
the joy I felt when I heard they were making another album.
Then more waiting, anticipation building. Then to finally
hear the album and to suffer the utter disappointment. There
was a lot of pain in my initial post but I still made it.
And for tibbar to try to quickly dismiss my opinion because
it didn't match his own just made it worse. Of course I
don't really think cEvin and Ogre should be literally shot
in the head just for making a bad record. I just wanted to
illustrate my point that this isn't the Skinny Puppy I fell
in love with. That this album shouldn't have been released
as a work of Skinny Puppy. I remember reading an interview
where cEvin said over the years he's always had a surplus of
material to release but much of it didn't fit the Skinny
Puppy sound so he released it under different pseudonyms.
Why couldn't he do that here? He should have. I still have
one shred of hope left that he would scrap the album before
the due date because no amount of mixing will fix this
album; it's beyond repair.

At least Front 242 still knows how to make good records.
