you can actually buy 3" CD-R discs :)

I bought some a while ago, made by Imation

very cool, can hold 22mins or 180MB (if i remember
correctly!)

I've got one hanging around my room somewhere, but my room
isn't exactly in th best shape at the moment!

Yeah, i stand corrected. It's kid606 - why i love life that
i have on 3". I feel like such a tool now. Please forgive
me.

I got Sqp, VSnares "Giant Ailien" and the first ep by
Quinoline Yellow. All are very cool. 3"cds is a good thing,
but they should not have covers like the last Sqp. It is so
small, it disappears in my shelves.

im just wondering how they can be played in a normal cd
player for 5" cds. aren't they too small?

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2004-03-14 08:49 [#01107366]

cd players with "trays" are usually suitable for 3' as well

if you look at a tray cd player it should have another
circle in the center where you can put a 3" cd. i don't
know if you can play them in a car-like cd player though.
(haha sorry i don't know how to describe a lot of these
things well)

maybe my stereo cd player could play it, as you can attach
it to the round-y thingy. but i wouldn't think my cd drive
in my computer could play, cos it doesn't have any round-y
thingy.

better than "round-y thingy" ;)

A 3" cd should work in a slot-loading drive, otherwise the
devices would come with a warning, saying not to use them

offline uzim on 2004-03-14 14:32 [#01107714]

they work in my portable cd player (which isn't a really
good one though, it reads some cds very well but "spits" on
other ones between the songs)! : )

I've got a radio promo of "A Different Feeling" by the
avalanches, and also a cd-r that jason (manifestevil) gave
me, although, I kinda wish he'd just record his live sets
and give them to me,.. his mp3's sound shoddy, but his live
sets are fucking awe inspiring

a 3" for the Babyfingers EP... nice! ^^

3" cds are annoying because they don't fit properly in cd
binders and can fall out

OSCILIX YOUR MINI CDS ARE UNDER THE SNOWGLOBE

i've got help afx 2 and a promo for the avalanches album
with 3 tracks

i like it better cause those three tracks aren't mixed

also i just bought a 25 pack of mini cd-rs and little cases
to go with them

and i think some people were wondering about 5" players, you
can easily use them in trays or portable cd players, but for
front loading players you can actually get an adapter, it's
the same idea as the 45 adapter but it goes on the outside

my dad has one somewhere

i got a Cylob 3", Are We Not Men Who Live and Die
Meat Beat Manifesto: Free Piece Suite 3" (came w/ the US
RUOK?)
Nine Inch Nails: Physical/Suck 3" (w/ original pressing of
Broken)
and Square Window

the only Aphex 3" i even heard of was a Japanese import of
either the David Bowie or Gavin Bryars remix (just can't
think of which it was right now)

there was also Jap promo 3" of Pusher's Cooper's World/Vic
Acid.

3"s don't fit in slot load CD player unless they have the
adaptor. its just this plastic ring the diameter of a 5" CD
that the small CD snaps into. pretty interesting. the Cylob
3" came w/ one.

yeh, i found out that you can't use 3" discs in slot-loading
drives with the documentation for my PowerBook (luckily I
didn't find out the hard way!)
