Then tell me, why do people like this kind of music? Does it make you feel better wanting to be black? Or buying into a culture to which you have no natural affiliation? Explaint to me.

i like it if it sounds good - if they have something smart to say it's a bonus ...since this thread is about mf doom - i didn't even know he was black untill i saw his pictures.

I appreciate hip-hop for the music and the culture. Labeling something as "black" and writing it off without taking any time to learn about what the hip-hop culture is seems very ignorant to me. No offense ecnadniarb, but I dont agree with what you said.
Are you saying that noone should go out and enjoy Kabuki theatre simply because its Japanese?
Draping the label "black" over an entire artform is unfair. Plain and simple.

first of all, i don't thinking i'm being presumptuous when i say that an awful lot of the people here who like doom and madlib ALSO like Doseone and El-P... by which i mean... hip hop simply isn't black anymore... it's about as multicultural as genres come... the blacks can be credited with it's creation, and many of the finest hip hop albums are by black people... but it is most certainly not a genre defined by race... (in fact it's waaaay less racially homogenous than say: experimental electronic music)
and in any event, we like it because a) MF Doom is the most creative mc who can still flow reasonably well
b) Madlib is the best hip hop producer in the game today, and will be remembered as one of the finest producers in hip hop history....
the sound they cultivate together is entertaining, soulful, eccentric, clever, beautiful, etc.
just because you don't like it doesn't mean that our reasons for liking it are completely unfounded... maybe you don't like japanese noise, but do you tell people they want to be down with the japanese because they like Merzbow and watch anime?

"Labeling something as "black" and writing it off without taking any time to learn about what the hip-hop culture is seems very ignorant to me."
That's an ignorant comment to make, because you have assumed that purely because I said I disliked rap that I didn't know about the culture.
I think maybe you are all racist towards normal white people as well. A gang of reverse Michael Jacksons...who probably enjoy his choice of hobbies as well.

ok, so; vik vaughn: Never Dead -
lil' schootime viktor and his pal get pissed off because some school chums steal his videogame, so they totally flip out an kill some students and a couple of teacherish folk. then they run away to chinatown and meet up with a voodoo guy who helps them rewind time back a day so that none of it really happend.
is that basically it?
