..justified ancient liberation zulu? wtf?

3 AM Eternal is awesome. I love the female voice asking "Are
you ready?"

how do you guys listen to music with a veritable field of
old gray hairs in your old gray heads

i sort of liked their hits back in the good old days. i
downloaded one or two albums maybe a year ago but never
really got into them. perhaps i should give it another
try...

is "the white room" the right place (heh) to start?

yeah they do rock me ever once in a good while. "Wichita
Lineman Was a Song I Once Heard" is just utterly one of the
most beautiful songs. so much soul. i often wonder what they
could have really accomplished had they not wasted their
time showing everyone up w/ that pop star front.

it was mumu not zulu, wasn't it?
the ancients of mumu?

alfred | if you were indeed born in 1980, then how did you
miss out on the klf? or did you come to music late in life?

some other fine ones...anyone knows why they stopped making
music?

they wanted to make a statment about the music industry, by
burning money and shooting blanks into the audience at award
shows.

I remember thier Timelords incarnation, I remember them on
SNUB TV talking about it as well, but then I am bowed under
a veritable field of grey hairs. Jimmy Cauty still makes
rather caustic music at www.crapola.com/blacksmoke/ , and Bill Drummond
became an artist and publisher, I believe his website is
still going at www.penkiln-burn.com. The original mix of What Time
Is Love? is still a fave track of mine, still eerie and
moody after all these years.

the only thing i remember about this song is the cheezy
"telephone" sound at the beginning.

didn't Tammy Winette sing with them in another song? i had
the single for it, justified and ancient eh?

i bought Space on ebay last night. always wanted to hear
that. got LP cause i heard the CD was just one long bit w/
no track separations. i always hated it when live sets came
that way.

least w/ the LP i can put the needle wherever i want.

I find the mythology of KLF fascinating - the whole Brits
stunt etc... obviously a very artistically significant
group

HOWEVER having not listened to them when they came out I
think their music is piss poor..? Granted I have only heard
3AM. It sounds so dated. I prefer the live version they did
at the Brits with Extreme Noise Terror.

The Orb, probably, who knows what you could really call it.
i call it interesting.

always thought Chill Out was a little over hyped (not saying
its bad at all but it does get far too much praise). a
longform music video could be really cool though.

I have got that This is what the KLF is about video...but
it's just a homemade compilation of lots of TV appearances,
however it does include Waiting, which made it worth
it...long story...

oh geez, don't get me started on the KLF! One of the
greats.
Yeah it does say 'zulu' and the 'the mighty zulu nation' on
another song. But they were from mumu (land). Have you seen
that promo/stunt thing they did where they get a load of
journalists to dress up in robes, ship them to Mu, act all
weird the burn a huge wickaman thing! The expressions on
there faces! I think the zulu nation thing is because of the
whole cosmic force / esotoric nature of the groups. KLF
meant Kopyrite Liberation Front, it's from a book called The
Illuminatus triology, which is apparently fact based but
with some facts changed (!).
Anyway, in this book the 'old guard' The KLF have amidst
their global controling web of deciept, a bunch of
dissenters called The Justified Ancients of MuMu or JAMMS.
that is where the song 'Kick out the Jams' by Mc5 comes
from. Even though it doesn't (if you know what i mean...)

to cut a long story short The KLF/JAMMS in said novel are
the Illuminatie (in real life), and they control the media
and everything else, orchestrate wars all in the name of
worshipping ancient knowledge and basing things on
numerology (with all the cosmic connotations as well)

Which the Zulu nation follows... that's why Bambaataa looks
mad, cuz the world's just a stage maaan. Hence KLFs
approach.
You can see the unreleased movie 'The White Room' on
youtube.

as you were...

the white album on sale today is butchered and doesn't flow
right. You need to find the old vinyl to appreciate it.

Cauty makes hillarious stamps these days on CNPD on line The
Cautese National Postage Disservice. They very funny, and
rip off banksy abit (Kopyrite Libetation etc)...

Excellent, I'd never seen the movie like that before, I saw
what must have been the shorter version, without the
begining and the end. That really is a great glimpse into
the legend that is Cauty & Drummond.

Do you mean the original demo version? Or is there now an
edited version of what was the commercially available White
Room album?

You can get the white room on an american import but it
hasn't got the audiance cheering bits (from an elvis concert
appently), and the tracks just don't fit together right. God
knows why you can buy this and non of the other ones.

1987 is one of the funniest albums ever. Those scottish raps
crack me up!

The music for the rites of mu is great as well. Dark
ambience! You can get that from ebay.

Who Killed the Jams? is a very good album too, that doesn't
seem to get mentioned much. But 1987.. is a classic. Taking
cut and paste to new heights / lows.
