that means wipe my hardrive right?
sounds like fun

that means id have to re-install everything, replace all my
files from the backups, etc.

plus, i dont have a clue what im doing.

plus, that doesnt explain why i cant even use my email.

it also doesnt explain why half my programs wont work right
and why it locks up every five minutes.

no thanks, ill let someone who knows what theyre doing
handle it.

that's what it means, yes.

it's always a good idea to periodically clean up your
computer and reinstall everything, from OS and upwards,
upwards and away!

when I got the computer, which I do not have in a material
sense, back, I formatted and reinstalled all.

too much crap on your computer can seriously fuck things up
and slow your computer down.

hmm. speaking of reformatting that's something i should
probably do pretty soon here. that and get a dvd burner,
because the 100+ gigs of anime are gummin' up future anime
downloads. hmph.

The fact that you can send mail but not recieve makes me
think something in your account setting is jacked up. My
recommendation would be to a) try and different mail program
(if you are using Netscape, try Outlook and vice versa) and
see if you get the same results. If not, and all of your
account settings look right, then uninstall/reinstall that
program; if the results are the same then it sounds more
like a problem at the server level
