heavy stuff. the diagnosis, I mean. don't know about the drug.
schizophrenia runs in my family too - although up to date I don't seem to have it.

I want to be 100% honest with you. I dont like the idea of people taking meds. I hate the idea the other peoples opinions determine your fate. That and then you have to take meds to counteract the side effects of the first meds and its this weird circle that rapes your humanity.
It scares me

well ive always come to know and accept that i have BI-polar. but taking drugs such as weed and alcahol may make inner disorders emerge. schizophrenia runs in my family aswell.
there are different levels of it too, im not delusional, or hallucinate while not on drugs. i do hear scary voices but make thats just a ploy that warp records have brainwashed my fragile little mind.
i also agree that medications are bad and anything such as this deep rooted disorder can be cured with cognitive therapy.
i do however have split personalites, im still me the whole time, just on different levels of emotion which can get in the way of my thoughts and even, posts on xltronic.

it wholly depends on the meds being used and the effect on the specific patient.
lots of people diagnosed with schizophrenia are able to live a relatively normal life because of medication.
so, you can't really say that in general.

ive been given two starter packs, 3 weeks from now is my next appointment to discuss how its working.
3 weeks from now is the final desician of what road i will chose to take in life.
once on this drug for a period of time, going off it may cause serious relapse, far worse that staying as is right now.

it's an anti-psychotic
virginpusher: "I dont like the idea of people taking meds. I hate the idea the other peoples opinions determine your fate. That and then you have to take
meds to counteract the side effects of the first meds and its this weird circle that rapes your humanity." I work with schizophrenics, the meds give them back their humanity, it makes life much easier for them, they can do things again instead of lying in bed all day, but I understand you're scared; that's just cause you don't know what it is.
Gwely: all the best! it's not the end of the world, peace!

-crazone, thanks :)
yeah, i think maybe taking this med WILL get me off my lazy ass and start living, which i really need to do.
the sick thing about meds, is the combonation, my aunt is on a multitude of drugs, each co-dependant on the other, she never needed all these but was literally experimented on with them, as many patients are when in the psyche ward. she is now messed this way for life. i will be careful of what im fed.

you're welkom, my experiences is that when you find the right meds, the ones that work for you, you can use them for the rest of your live, the problem is you've to take em everyday, even if you think you can do without them otherwise you can start all over again, it takes about two/three weeks before you are on the right level again. i recommend you to see this movie, it's not a great movie, dont expect much off it, but for you interesting:

I suppose everyone has Schizophrenic tendancys in them. IE, everyone has a breaking point
Drugs arnt all that bad, aslong as the dosage isn;t too much. Sometimes they just take the edge off things and helps you recover in your own way.
Some doctors are just too quick with the persricption pad though. When I had depression the first thing my doctor put me on was prozac. No questions as to how I actually feel
Prozac made me crazy and violent, wich was nice =o\

ahh....Risperdal. my best friend in NJ, who is Bi-polar, and manic depressive (or was).....took many many prescriptions. Risperdal was one......I remember it was like the worst one he had of all of them. My memories are a bit foggy, but I think he didn't like it at all... it made his personality change too much, and just ended up leaving him feeling wasted in the end.
personally, i disapprove.
sheer willpower, man. come on, you can do it. !

wow. tkae care of yourself man. In my studies from college, usually the prescribed drugs do help you out. Just have a family member/friend help you keep track of your extreme levels (when, where, on meds, off meds). That will help you determine what's best for your situation. good luck...
also, everyone keep in mind a common misconception of Schizophrenia.
It's not the same as multiple personalty disorder. in other words, if someone has Schizophrenia that doesn't mean they have a bunch of different people living inside of them. It's confused quite often, by a lot of people.
