Well bleep has all the Warp stuff, and
Emusic has Mille Plateaux, Force, Matador, Schematic
and others for 22 cents a track... both of them are offering
Lame VBR mp3s with are pretty much the best you can get...

I don't know, is paying money for music completely dead?

I've got some Bit Torrent files on my computer, for a game
and some Beatles bootlegs, but I haven't had time to figure
out how to work them. Somebody give me a lesson in 50 words
or less.

bittorent works like this
someone seeds (hosts) the full file.
or multiple ppl
say 1 person seeds a file / hosts it.

everyone connects to him to start downloading it.

i have 10% finished.
i share that 10% that I have already downloaded with
everyone else who is just starting to download it.

and everyone shares the % they've already downloeded with
everyone else.

and it builds a peer mesh network.

its great

the more you upload to others, the faster you download.

i recommend Shadow's Experimental bit torrent client because
it lets you limit how much you upload so its not maxing out
your connection.

then go to

www.suprnova.org

start downloading

when you finish downloading, you can keep the bittorrent
open and you become a Seed when you have 100% of it and you
continue sharing it with everyone else.

or you can be an ass and close the window and stop sharing
it with ppl.

whole internet

if only what worked on osx?

soulseek works. install fink, then install nicotine from
the unstable tree.

bittorrent works. again, install via fink.

it's not about not paying for music... it's about getting
the chance to hear music before you purchase it or not (on
vinyl, preferably)...

bittorrent can be a total pain in the arse, especially if
there are too few seeders.

I prefer Kazaa lite for DVD rips but new releases,
bittorrent is okay i guess.

When it's good it's good.
A few times I've been downloading something and it's gets to
99.5% or whatever and no other fucker has the remaining
amount so I'm fucked!

My pc seems to be allergic to bittorrent clients. I've tried
2 different clients. One freezes my PC for a while every 5
secs or so, and the other one, caused instant reboots and a
blue screen one time (in winXP goddamnit). Also most of the
files I tried to download were unavailble or with very slow
transfer speed. I did open the necessary ports in my
firewall. So....I've stopped using it, damn shame as it is
:(

are people having trouble with soulseek? i haven't had any
lately... my searches haven't been turning up too many
results, but that's probably because i'm looking for stuff
that is either brand new, or is a bit rare... does anyone
have the audiosphere with Taylor Deupree and Christopher
Willits? all i need are the first 2 tracks...
