I just got my replacement laptop delivered about 30 minutes
ago. I phoned HP to organise a collection on the faulty one
they have sent the replacement for (it is quite a minor
fault to repair) and customer services said they don't want
it...

Well it has been back for repair three times with a
flickering screen...they replaced the screen on the 3rd
occassion with a brand new one, but when I received it back
there was a problem with the BIOS resetting (I think the
CMOS battery has been unseated in transit)...HP's policy is
after a unit has been back three times for repair they
replace it. The one I had is now obsolete so they have
replaced it with a better unit...but it's still not bad
(2.54Ghz, 512Mb, 40GB HD, 1600x1200 15" display).

I've still got a feeling I just got through to a shitty
customer service person who couldn't be bothered helping me
and someone will get in touch to say they are arranging a
collection.

If they don't ask for it back AND I have a full frontal

deal.

If the only fault is screen flicker ie the screen flickers
on and off, worse when you move the screen back and
fourth...then its the same thing that happened to my laptop.
Sent it back and they couldn't fix it/didn't want to

Took me half hour and a £3 can of solvent cleaner from
maplin.

With my laptop I had to take out the screen and disconnect
the cable spray cleaner in the socket and reconnect, they
typically get air in and gunk builds up forming a poor
connection cleaner sorts it right out... If this isn't the
problem then apologies for the long post.

yes.. I can see how a lobotomy would be kind of useless in
your case.

HA HA FUNNY FUNNY HA HA

I know it was the inverter that was the problem...but it was
under warrenty so I thought I might as well let them fix it
which they did in the end.

I just got a phone call this morning checking whether
everything was OK with the new laptop. I said "Yes" and
they said "OK, I'm glad it is all sorted out, goodbye". No
mention of the old one...this is looking more promising. :D
