you can always rely on the Dicker to tell it like it is. no up-the-ass-smoke-blowin' ever from that guy.

I think it's a hot dog that plugs into a relish processor and then you sing into while you're eating.

same principles for voice regognition thingies
every voice as a spectral print made up of his formants... like the accoustic of a room, that leads to a spectral curve with many notch in it relatively unique to the person
starting from there you can imagine many ways to use and abuse the tech, you can also find many soft synth nowadays using spectral synthesis, where you draw the spectral content of you sound (Virsyn Tera to name one)

CDP is all over aphex's music, also used on mike dred/peter green's virtual farmer album, which is where he first came across it..
It has a lot of phase vocoder functions allowing you to extract the frequency information away from the amplitude and perform a lot of transformations on it.
If you want a free version then get csound it's able to analyse, synthesis and resynthesis phase vocodered info.

easy: a tone from someone famous' voice. like someone singing a "aaaaaaaa." then you vocode your own voice (whispering for best reproduction) on to it.
