Eyes without a Face- 4.5/5, creepy and beautiful, Maurice
Jarre's soundtrack was often pretty grating though

Night of the Comet- 3/5, funny zombie flick, hard to mess
that up

Contact- 1/5, I can't stand the sappy tone in this, and I
watched it back to back with 2001 (History Television had an
all-alien Saturday) which just exacerbated the problem
tenfold.

Good use of the word 'exacerbated'. Reminds me of Shaun of
the Dead, which is always a pleasure.

i've recently found the imdb rating tool more convenient in
rating the films i see. if i don't like the movie, then i'm
going there and hard-pressing the mouse left button on the
1st star at far left.

Casino Royale............4.5/5

I watched it for the 2nd time last weekend and think that
it's the most mature, dark, tragic and deep Bond film so
far. If Bond films can be any deep ! :P It's my favourite
one so far, it's very different from the 90s Brosnan Bond
films. I'd give it 5/5 but Daniel Craig is not really
convincing as the Bond character, maybe he hasn't fit into
the part yet.

Blade: Trinity 5/10.

hamstrung by poor directing & cliché-ridden dialogue (Blade
gets the lion's share unfortunately). Ryan Reynolds steals
the show as a wise-cracking sidekick. Directed by the writer
of the first two films, who also produced, so I'm guessing
not much quality-control was exercised.

the fountain - 2.666/5 - it was visually quite good (albeit
a little 'glossy mtv' at the times) but the story left me
empty although i've thought about the topic quite a bit

princess bride - 4/5

Nosferatu the Vampyre - 4/5

cassanova - 3/5 (some nice tunes but my least favourite
fellini so far)

soylent green - 5/5

it's like highlander, a good first one, sequels that look
like a b-movie
(the soundtrack is ok though, because of rza)

Street Thief, 10/10, burglary is something of a dark fantasy
for me... nobody gets physically hurt, you know, it's all
good... and this movie is a pseudo-documentary of the life
of a burglar in Chicago, exciting stuff, couldn't look away.
It's on A&E again tomorrow night and I will watch it again.

hm, there actually is only one film with that title
http://imdb.com/find?s=all&q=%09le+samourai+
it just doesn't seem to be about samurai

funnily enough, the film is name checked in the 'trivia
track' for Hot Fuzz.

it's a french film about a contract killer who follows a
samurai code. a very detached and clinical film that manages
to be beautiful through its cinematography, patience, and
the presence of alain delon. recommended if you can handle
slow films without much dialogue.

It's not on the actual film itself - on the DVD there is the
option of a 'trivia track' which is in activted in the
subtitles section - and on there, at one point, it mentions
that film :]

Return Of The Living Dead - 6/10 - Actually very funny! I've
always loved the end.
Shooter - 4/10 - Super cliched which completely ruined it.
Oceans 13 - 2/10 - No. Need.
They Live! - 8/10 - Roddy Piper! Aliens! Yes!
Volva - 5/10 - I found it quite boring. My girlfriend loved
it.
Re-Animator - 6/10 - Nice.
Thi13een Ghosts - 1/10 - Why the fuck did I think this was a
good idea? Rather than being scared I spent most of the time
the 'ghosts' were on screen thinking about the
inconsistencies in their behaviour and the terrible make
up. Dear god some one put Matthew Lillard out of his misery.
