Now there's a film i really want to see. I've heard
many good things about "dolls".

Also: Serpico ----> 5/5, or near-as-dammit. Excellent,
excellent film.

SAW 8/10. nearly shit my pants...... very good tho, only
let down by some ropey acting in places and some slightly
annoying camera work

I didn't exactly watch it, but from what I saw The Cell was
a definite 2/5. Everything was terrible except the visuals,
which were outstanding throughout (no I'm not just talking
about Jennifer Lopez).

The Spanish Prisoner - 3/5

Good premise marred by some abysmal acting and a strangely
80s feel to the photography.

Motorcycle Diaries: 4/5

quite beautifully filmed. it provides the background
inspiration for the rest of Che Guevara's life, based on his
and his close friend's journals.

not a lot of plot here, just a road trip kinda movie, but
the locations are exotic and the performances by everyone
are very natural.

The Best of Triumph, the insult comic dog - 3/5

largely material that has floated around the net for some
time: starwars dork line, bon jovi concert etc. but also
outtakes from all these familiar scenes. Also, the American
Idol stuff is hillarious, and the Hollywood Squares
appearance is hillarious.

thought it might be,

I don't know if this is a good or bad thing but I can't take
American movies seriously anymore, its a shame because the
odd film is really good but I go to see their films with the
lowest expectations.

tdat was obviously groomed from the very beginning to be a
'blockbuster'... thus it attempted to appeal to every
audience, and completely fell flat because it excelled in no
area.

i dont think every american film is like this.

i'd reckon theres as many good american movies coming out as
there is from any other country, you just have to look
beyond hollywood. my favorite movies of the last couple
years are all american.

yeah, really it should be proportional... i find it really
difficult to find good new foreign films, because you don't
necessarily have the benefit of retrospect to help sort out
the gems from the duds... i know that in a few years time i
will know about the good foreign films from now... and
certain directors i know to pay attention to... but i'm not
satisfied with what i know in that area... what i can speak
for is a handful of very very talented american directors...
i'm very much looking forward to both the new David O.
Russell film and of course Wes Anderson's latest...

yeah, them and sophia coppolla and spike jonze are the most
interesting directors working right now imo. i see alot of
people on here talk about "foreign film" and then just list
japanese movies. seems kind of shallow, like "hey, its
japanese, must be good". theres plenty of great movies
coming out of asia and europe, but i'd say its equal to
americas product.

don't be amuzed - I rated Big Lebowsky 3/5.

as for me, Cuckoos Nest was very predictable, and
made for family use.

I definately wouldn't say they are equal but I do admit
there are 'some' good American films, its just annoying when
all thats at the cinema are Hollyood blockbusters and its
hard to get to see the decent films.

The only good American films i've seen recently is 'Eternal
Sunshine...' and 'Lost in Translation'. Thats not many
considering the amount that are realeased here.

A film isn't good just because its Japanese but they do make
a surpising amount of good movies compared to other
countries, also i've seen some 'amazing' Korean films
lately.

The Korean horror film 'Tale of Two Sisters' is better than
any Horror film America has made for years.
