Thanks again Phobiazero, these beauties arrived in the post
today and I am very happy :)

I love the artwork, did you draw it yourself or is it
something specific?

Jazembo (one happy xlt member)

I have always wanted to know how you put an image on a cd, I
would guess that you print the image into a sticker rather
than put the cd directly into the printer, but I can't see
any evidence of a sticker either.

Can you let me in on the secret Phobiazero.

it's called "stamping" them, and as far as I know you print
on sticker paper and use a nifty little tool to press it
onto the cd evenly.

stamping you say? Do you know if this is how it is done
commercially?

Phob: Any chance of making those CD labels downloadable
please?

nah, they must do it differently for commercial use, because
those cd's always have very smooth art that is directly on
the cd, like laserjet ink was used or something... The
homemade kind have a papery feel to them (go figure) and are
a tiny bit (but noticeably) thicker.

are they wav or mp3s files?

Both cd's are mp3 files but I am planning to transfer the
vibes onto audio cd and give each one a cool xltronic
'stamp'

I print the CD's directly in my printer. No stamping or
stickers etc... Works like a charm, but a bit expensive in
the end.

All upcoming CD's distributed by Xltronic will feature
printed labels. The final layout is not decided yet, so
Jazembos CD's are quite unique :)

Nacmat: mp3s

Giginger: Not for now... Maybe never...

that's insane(-ly cool)... your printer has software that
knows how to print onto an area like that? how does it feed
the disk through so that it isn't broken in the process?

cool, I've been thinking about acquiring a printer (either
one of the epson range or the canon i865) that has the
capability to print directly onto CD-r. So it's professional
looking?
Is it waterproof?

x-tomatic:
professional looking? yeah, i like to think so.

waterproof? nope, shouldn't be....it's ink. haven't tried it
yet tho. :)

zephyr twin
it comes with a cartridge acting as a placeholder for the
CD. then you'll just fire up the included software and
create the discs layout.

d-steak: what exactly do you want to own? send me a
mail.

Phobiazero: Thx 4 the info, now to decide which brand
of printer to choose, epson or canon. It's gonna be hard to
get either in my neighbourhood as HP seems to have the
market completely monopolized on every front atm. It's crazy
really.
Jazembo: I asked because I was once changing CD's in
the trunk of my car and it was raining, a couple of
raindrops fell on my stickerprinted CD-r and it immediately
screwed up and washed out. And if I'm not mistaking these
special printable CD-r's don't have the printable layer
stickered, so I wondered wether they would be waterproof.
It's just a detail really.

oh right, can you use a normal printer with the stickers or
does it have to be 'special' also?
