Don't expect it to sound like Autechre or anything hi-tech.

01 zenith : i thought the wind sound was a bit cheesy...
maybe something that is real would sound 10 times better,
like a recording of a storm or something, but thats just my
opinion... when the song does get going its actually really
nice and spooky... maybe it just goes a little long tho...

02 yaupon : its quite new agey sounding, i like it.

03 xanthic sky : very nice one, i like, wish it would have
been a longer track tho, it could be quite an epic...

... i played a few more random ones after that... they make
me think a little of the short BOC interludes, not bad stuff
at all :)

Stars, Moon and Night

okay, this song could honestly be in a SNES rpg! simple, the
melody rises and depresses. when i first started making
music i alwasy did that
da da da, da da du, da da da, da da du
if you worked on it some more it could be a really great
piece of work.
for the meantime, im gonna accociate it with Secret of Mana.

Would be helpful to know which ones you want reviewed so we
know which are best!

Listening to a couple random ones... my stuff is up at
this place my best four pieces I think, any of them are
good to check out

Zenith: Panning on the wind is boring, side to side with a
basic white noise sound, been done to death.

Not much of a fan of the piano line, but I like what comes
over it, good juxtoposition on those two sounds, piano fades
a little suddenly though. Fading from one thing to the next
in the same sort of way isn't doing it for me. Some neat
transitions from one sound to the next, maybe vocoder or
something? I started getting bored with the line and lack of
progression pretty quickly.

Yaupon: Much better mesh of the sounds. The pad and the
melody don't sound as distant as Zenith. Simple, a little
repetitive, but works for what it is, little filler.
Simplicity is nice sometimes, this is one of those times

Giant Albino Rinocerose: I listened to half a dozen of them
and decided this would be fine since it was one of the
better ones.

This has more progression than the others I was listening
to, this is better in the subtlety you're trying to capture.
I still think you're WAY overdoing the repetitive loops,
even for ambient because the tempo is a little fast for the
loop length. The wind/white noise sounds much better in this
piece than Zenith.

You got a good pad foundation in some areas, but a lot of
work to get things up to the next level, you need to
progress these pieces, have some transitions and maturing
lines

Thanks, thats a good review Sangiune, I'll try to review
your stuff in a while.

Gwely Mernans - Review
Memphisto Phelian - This is a nice track, very mysterious, I
think of the desert and wandering around in the sagebrush,
in the middle of the night. It sounds like something that
would belong in the background of a videogame like Fallout
2.

Spies of the Court - Very nice, this has a similar tone to
it, this track could go into the background of the latest
Silent Hill game.

Vis Ma Jour - Very good track, I like how it really
progresses, I thought this was your best track of the three,
I especially like the ending.

Teapot, I just listened to the Xeutre album (the entire
thing mind you). Overall it was a decent album, great in
some areas, not so great in others. It reminded me a little
of Autechre's Chiastic Slide.

Resurrection/Extended was my favorite track on the album,
the light ambient wave that drives the track sounded a
little familier, maybe something I've heard from Thomas
Dolby...

Let Down By Those You Love, was a very nice little piece.

Worth was a good one too.

The album was good, but the scratchiness kind of gets
repetitive, and makes the whole album seem like one overly
long track.

zenith- cool melody, nice bgm.. the rain sfx are a little
trite, as is the panning. otherwise its ok to listen to

yaupon- just fine. short and ok

*realizes how many tracks you have on here and skips to
the end*

anopenspace- same sounds as yaupon. i like the melody fine.
it would be nice if this had a rhythm track.

ok ill listen to more...

jacana- was about to be really cool until the piano came
in.

oobe- this is more like it, nice thick ambience, a little
boring and the dsp is a little obvious/upfront, still my
fave so far.

quasi memory- best one. almost flawless, reminds me of
lucidikah. keep making tracks like this. paints a picture,
sets a tone. good work.

thats all i have time for atm. cheers

 here's some pomme tracks.

i've listened to reticle and zenith, i also have oobe but
haven't heard it yet.

i think with both of these tracks you've got 5% of a track
stretched out far too thin, there's not enough going on and
not enough interesting going on to justify the repetition.

i like the filters on the piano sound of zenith at about
2:35, that 5-10 secs could be the kernel of a track, but the
piano on its own and backwards, too simple, uninteresting.
the melody is too basic, almost awkward, and the treatments
too cliché.

reticle is just a looped track stretched out to four minutes
and then played backwards. anyone who's spent any time
making their own music will spot pointless gimmicks like
reversing a track in an attempt to make an uninteresting
track interesting.

i hope i'm not too harsh, but i have to be honest, because i
think you've got some idea kernels there that could be
developed much further, and some nice sounds, but you've got
to take it to the next level, and then the next level, and
so on. keep working, and don't give up on a track so soon,
keep developing and testing and modifying and finding new
techniques and sounds.

you've got a good start, but you don't have complete tracks
yet.

Yeah, I know it's repetitive, and I used a lot of things in
reverse, I don't really have any equipment right now, I made
the whole thing using a cheap midi keyboard.

Pomme de Terre, I reviewed the 6 tracks inside the Zip
file.

Docca - Very nice, I like the scratchy beats, and I really
like the ambient background waves. The little voice thing at
the end was a nice playful touch.

Breakfast of Infamy - Nice short track.

Francis Gay III - Sounds like Autechre, and Aphex Twin (SAW
II) type stuff. Really nice, I like the background ambience
very well.

Judacalla - I like the light keys in the background, but the
beats kind of kill it though.

Baby Birds - Excellent track, kind of reminds me of video
game music, also reminds me of Aphex's flim. I like the
melancholic sounds very well.

Analeapt2 - This is an okay track, but it seems too
repetitive. And doesn't really compare to the rest of your
stuff.
